We HEARD the whole show but saw none of it. I can verify that the back of the bridge is not a great place to view Illuminations (unless you really, really tall).
BTW I lost a really great pair on sunglasses that night on the bridge-just got up and left them sitting there.

Too funny!

At least you got to have a nice snack while you listened!

I really like the patio right outside of Italy...by the "look but don't touch" gondolas.

When we lived in Florida and frequented the parks we tried our hardest to find the "best spot" but ended up deciding that there many good spots but they're all usually taken by people who don't mind sacrificing a good portion of their day by heading to those spots way too early. From time to time we'd find great spots open and just take them but really anywhere in the world showcase area is good, we found that Germany tended to work out well for us.

A lot of it depends on where you want to go after Illuminations is over.
If you want to leave via the International Gateway...then World Showcase is best for you...but if you need to leave via the Epcot main entrance...you are better off watching from the Future World side. Because of the little islands with trees on them in the World Showcase Lagoon there have to be some tough places to see everything...like maybe France or Morocco or China?

It really is just personal preference. I've always loved over by morocco, there's a little spot where the path swings out, it's usually not crowded and as a fairly unobstructed view.

There's a brilliant spot in Germany I usually watch from. Get there at least at 8pm and you're good. Perfect view.
Or I go to the UK but that's usually when I'm talking to someone...
