It looks like WDW got the big opening, looking at the live stream disney posted, they had george lucas pimping the ride in person.mindflipper wrote:...or it's as I said before: the big deal with the ST2 opening is at Disneyland and Disney World as usual gets shafted.

Isn't his company also having some big official Star Wars convention in Orlando at the same time?Wizzard419 wrote:It looks like WDW got the big opening, looking at the live stream disney posted, they had george lucas pimping the ride in person.mindflipper wrote:...or it's as I said before: the big deal with the ST2 opening is at Disneyland and Disney World as usual gets shafted.

No idea, but (according to actors who've worked with him) things like this make him wet with glee since he knows it means tons of cash going in his pocket.

I think WDW's opening was pretty awesome. I don't think DL's will be as over the top since there simply is no space for that type of show. But I am expecting to see a continuation of the "story" since it was mentioned that they are now aimed at Anaheim.

It does make sense that they would have the bigger hoopla at WDW since there is more room around the Star Tours area for a big crowd. It will be interesting to see if they do continue the opening festivities at DL!MmeLeota wrote:I think WDW's opening was pretty awesome. It sounds like they were pretty low key when the original version opened, so they may just do little or no fanfare. I wonder if the little mermaid one is going to have some big thing because they have a stage right across from the main entry (used for the Disney Rocks show).

I would hope they would have something ~ that attraction is huge! At the very least I would guess they would have the original Little Mermaid herself make an appearance ~ Jodi BensonWizzard419 wrote:It sounds like they were pretty low key when the original version opened, so they may just do little or no fanfare. Keep in mind that the main re-dedication "show" for Star Tours was in front of the big hat. There was tons of space already even with the huge stage they put up for the event. Could they use space in the hub at Disneyland? Never been so I don't know about the space restraints at the park but I think it could be possible. They did use Main Street for the "Black Carpet" for the Pirates premier.MmeLeota wrote:I think WDW's opening was pretty awesome. I know they pretty much own the actress who played the little mermaid, but it's one of those "Do we need a big show since every idiot is on facebook and twitter and this will be on youtube by end of buisness?" situations.
I have a feeling DLR will not have nearly as much fanfare since the last couple of attractions all lacked that. I think the last big event they did, related to the parks, was the 5-5-05 event they did for the leadup to the 50 years celebration.
