Resort Honors Disney’s Horse History
Today is the anniversary of Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa, which opened its doors May 17, 2004.
If you’ve never visited this Disney Vacation Club property, its look and feel was inspired by the town of Saratoga Springs, NY – a place famous for horses and health spas.
When I looked into the resort’s history for today’s post, I found that the children’s area in the lobby is decorated with artwork of famous Disney horse characters, which caught me off guard at first. Sure Disney has tons of popular animal characters – mice, ducks, bears and so on – but Disney horses? My mind drew a blank.

Yeah I guess there are a lot of Disney horses aren't there. I think Belle's horse Phillipe is my fav.
I've stayed at the Saratoga, it was very nice.

I just can't believe that Saratoga Springs is already 7 years old. It feels like yesterday they were building it.

I stayed there back in 2008 and loved it. We would be staying there on our trip next month, but we wanted to try a few other DVC resorts to see how they are.

Horace and Clarabelle were two of the main reasons I loved the game Epic Mickey.yodiwan1 wrote:I love Horace Horsecollar!!! Got my pic with him and Clareabelle Cow a few times. Very bright characters!

You can find the characters also adorning construction walls over at DLR DCA.

Some other horsey things to note are:
- the race horse in front of the lobby has a hidden mickey on it
- the community hall is called Horsing Around Rentals
-the different resort areas are called "Grandstand"- with a racing themed pool, "Carousel"- with a mini carousel bbq area, "Paddock", "The Springs" and "Congress Park"
- in the last year, they've added two themed lobby Greeters- Jill and Mike
