Summer 2011

Post by theBIGyowski » May Wed 11, 2011 10:18 am

Does anyone know if MK is doing anything special for this summer? I know last year they had the Summer Nightastic and some other things.

Thanks!

I don't know for sure, but I doubt it. I would think they would have announced it by now, plus they have the 40th anniversary to celebrate. IF they do anything, it would probably be for the 40th and start in September.

So far, they haven't done much to celebrate the upcoming 40th other than to sell some lame 40th merchandise...

It seem that every year Disney is celebrating an X0 or X5 something anniversary. You would think that one year just has to be an X1 or some other odd number!

Let's not get on the topic of the 40th again here, it has already been covered with this topic:

I assume that they feel comfortable with the summer attendance then. I think the only reason they did so much last summer was out of a fear that attendance would drop.

I was kinda hoping for at least a new parade or something.

No, and I haven't seen an ad on TV for a while, and given Memorial Day is at the end of the month, they would already start pushing for the summer now. Maybe you're right, summer attendance is projected to be good so why bother?

They could also be planning on Star Tours being their big attraction to advertise and bring people in this summer.
Can't wait to take my twin boys on their first trip to Walt Disney World! Planning on heading there sometime Feb-May 2014!

I honestly think if Disney was planning anything for this year it would have been announced back in March. Nightastic was just a corny way for Disney to bring the MSEP back to MK and secretly make SpectroMagic disappear.

I agree; other than Star Tours 2.0 I don't think there's anything planned for Summer 2011. I guess they're not expecting to hype anything at the parks until the Fantasyland Expansion is opened.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Look for something big to happen once Fantasyland is complete. I would think that it could even be the basis for that year's property wide celebration.

That would make sense. Will the whole area including the new section be Fantasyland when it is complete, or are they planning on differentiating between the old and new Fantasylands? Anyone know?

Since they've referred to it as the "Fantasyland Expansion" and said they are "doubling the size of Fantasyland", I've thought it's all going to be Fantasyland with no differentiating.

The only reason I was wondering is because I have seen the new construction referred to as the "new Fantasyland" in a few different places now...

I think it is all a play on words. It will all be fantasyland but I think it will have some inner areas to it. Think about the Circus area and Beauty and the Beast area.
