Have they demolished the Pleasure Island sign yet?

Which one? The one on top the the building or the one by the street?

By the street; I drove by on Dec. 4th weekend but I forgot to look to see if it was still there.

I believe it was still there when I drove by last week. I don't think they will demolish it. More of a makeover.

Update: AMC has new carpeting and new paint on the walls. The box office on Planet Hollywood side is still behind walls as is the side of the theater facing the parking lot. There is a false wall in the middle of the theater as well as temporary walls (non-construction) blocking off the Planet Hollywood side of the theater and concession area.

I would not expect the Adventurer's Club to be coming back any time soon...if ever. The revitalization of PI is a result of two things...1. the nightclub scene was attracting a "non-Disney" crowd..and 2. the Marketplace in DTD makes just as much money in merchandise and restaurant sales as the Magic Kingdom. So, Disney is going to turn a huge piece of prime real estate into a dining and shopping Mecca...with a little bit of nighttime entertainment to go along with it. Even though I will miss the good ol days of PI on a Saturday night, this new project fits better into Disney's long-term strategic plans..and I am looking forward to it being completed.

Same could be said for West Side. Albeit not as much since Virgin Megastore closed but have you seen some of the people that the non-Disney music acts that play at House of Blues bring in (GWAR anyone?)?

Side Note: I don't mind the bands that play at HoB. I'm just surprised Disney still lets them play there as it is on Disney property...

Update: Walls are gone on the Planet Hollywood side of AMC. It looks like now the only Box Office and Concession stand is on the West Side entrance of the theater. I could be wrong but I think they might keep the walls inside between the regular theaters and the new dine-in theaters as new signs say 18 and up (younger than 18 accompanied by an adult). We'll see soon enough. Can't wait to try it!

Are you trying to intimate that GWAR isn't family friendly?:) If they don't mind cleaning up after them, I think it should be up to the HoB to decide who they bring in, and presumably if Disney has a problem with it they can not extend a lease to them whenever it's due.

I'm sure there was an agreement between Disney and HoB about the music content even BEFORE the first lease was ever signed. The question is: does Disney ever check and enforce those terms?

If it's the same as Disneyland then no, they don't. They do the usual club things like have tamer acts/versions of shows earlier in the evening and have the good version later on. While they can attempt to censor the venue it would be a very bad idea for Disney. There is a venue just south of Disneyland called the Irvine Spectrum, the entire area is owned by the Irvine Company. When it opened it had a large number of nightclubs and bars, then they all started to close. Apparently the Irvine Company enjoys having night clubs but doesn't want people dancing, "naughty music", loud music, or loud people. I am still trying to figure out how the Improv gets by.

Update: AMC Pleasure Island 24 will change its name to AMC Downtown Disney 24 and six (6) of the theaters will reopen as Dine-In theaters.

The rumor was that those theaters would combine and a total of 20 theaters would be available. Obviously not the case and makes for a variety of movies for the Dine-In theaters.

I wonder if that is a coincidence that both DLR and WDW's use AMC? At DLR the amc company doesn't have much penetration beyond the area it's in, most of it is Regal/Edwards.

I know that both Disney Downtown Disney (obviously) and Universal Studios (CityWalk) have AMC movie theaters. Other than that, there are only three (3) other AMC theaters in the Orlando/Daytona area according to their website.
