New Year's Eve 05/06 at Disneyland

Post by slotofkit » Dec Thu 29, 2005 10:30 pm

I am going to be at the park for New Year's Eve and wondering if anyone has been at it before. It's my first time for NYE, so I'm curious as to what usually happens!

Lots of people. TONS of people. And DJs. It's a giant party and a unique experience. Special FX are fun. I'll be over at Games of the Boardwalk for the midnight toll.

I must say there are times when I'm jealous of those of you who live close enough to go to DL on a regular basis. Have a great time NYE at DL! Good luck with the crowds.

Yeah, tons of people all squished into the hub area waiting for the countdown. I think there's three Fantasmic! showings on New Years Eve. Don't forget the loops of Disney Mania songs. And them noise makers

And the blackest 'art wears the broadest smile."

Oh, and "Welcome Home."

Three words: You. Are. Nuts.

I went one year...ONE. Never again. Too many people, very cold that year, you have to stake out your spot and guard it like a homeless man guards his corner. People get snappy on you quick for no apparent reason.

Considering the park's hit capacity all this week before 10 am, I'd say get there EARLY and just be prepared to wait it out. I have no doubt in my mind that NYE will hit capacity quickly. Your best bet, assuming you have cohorts, is take the park in shifts. Send someone to get food and bring it back for you, trade off every hour or so to ride rides. That way you still get a good spot without feeling like you just had to sit on a blanket all day/night. Also? Bring a "big" jacket, it's been kinda nipply out here lately.

Does the small world clock open up for midnight?

We had a pretty busy New Year's Eve at Disneyland, regardless of the rain. Skies opened up around 730pm, and we got our fireworks. DCA had the better fireworks display.

That's the same thing that happened at the 50th day celebration. They shut the door even earlier that day.

Disneyland was shutting its gates as early as 10am in the final week of 2005.
