Yes, definitely sad about the poor person that was killed there, but I did enjoy the ride too though...mostly because of the little girls that giggled the whole time we rode though!

I give kudos to Disney and Reedy Creek for there innovative concepts towards fire protection. They actually had an article in Nov/Dec '10 issue of NFPA Journal about "Crafting codes for Disney World". If anyone want a copy I scanned it and sent it to several of my friends and collegues.
sfcaguy wrote:I would certainly enjoy a copy of that article. Thanks for offering it. I read recently that Disney World has actually never had a major building fire in all their years of operation, thanks in part to the strict fire codes they established, and which many cities around the US eventually put into place. (This was in the book "Realityland" - A great book for all of those Walt Disney World fans out there.
Count me in for a copy of the article too :D I worked for the fire department for 10 years so I would be interested in seeing how strict the fires codes are!
Just out of curiosity, As a facility tech, I would like to see those as well. I know codes for standard bldg's. But for bldg's that are odd shaped or filled with fake walls and such, I imagine that the code are more like movie set codes or even more strict.

Some wishes have come true:

We are all a little weird

And when we find someone whose
Weirdness is compatible with ours,
We join up with them and fall in
Mutual weirdness and call it Love.”

Interesting.... Should be fun to see what happens and how it finally shapes up.

:( I'm disappointed, though I hope they'll do a good job with whatever they're doing.
Can't wait to take my twin boys on their first trip to Walt Disney World! Planning on heading there sometime Feb-May 2014!

Looks like Diz made it official that Zazu and Iago have been booted from the show.

YES! YES! YES! What a awesome move. What a president, returning a classic attraction. There may be hope for imagination fans. I LOVE LOVE the origional version. Disneyland's version is in my top 3 Disney attractions of all . So peaceful, so positive. I will definitely be heading down when this is completed. HURRAY!!

I'm pretty psyched about the return to something close to the original, I just hope the August 16th reopening time works out, since that is just before our trip down.

This is great news! I'm really looking forward to seeing this the next time I'm in the parks.

August 16th would be perfect as we will be there the next week! The boys are really looking forward to this re-opening. I HOPE they don't push it back again.

They are not changing the attraction because of the lack of guest satisfaction with ETR: UNM, they only changed it because the fire made it cheaper to do ETR instead of restoring ETR: UNM. It's all down to economics and expenses, not that people were unhappy with ETR: UNM.

So, what you're saying is we need to burn down JII and then they will restore it to its' original form??? mindflipper, how dare you ask us to do something like that! ;) (Man, I'm turning into Wizzard...)

That is a brilliant thought NaCler! And Wizzard might possibly be just the guy to "help" the JII pavilion have it's little "accident" ;)
