Thank you for your kind words MmeLeota ~ I know we were there a long time so there is a lot to share...hopefully I can wrap it up while I am not so busy over spring break.MmeLeota wrote:You may not have had the best seat in the house for the fireworks, but you sure had some wonderful pictures!!!! Amy and F1gment ~ Day 11
Well, I had gotten to sleep around 3 am with closing out the Magic Kingdom last night so I really wanted to sleep in a bit this morning. Unfortunately, another guest of the hotel, who obviously had forgotten her room number, and couldn't understand what the "privacy please" tag meant in our door lock, had other ideas
Since I was awake after her 3 or 4 attempts to get into our room, I went ahead and got our breakfast and brought it back to the room. These were the most fabulous croissanty things. They had two little channels of chocolate that ran through them and I think between the two of us we had at least 10 of them over the course of our vacation!

We went to EPCOT first. Of course we had to check out Mouse Gear with our 20% coupon. We didn't find much here though ~ just a few reusable shopping totes for our friend who was watching our house.
Saw this awesome poncho somewhere along the way. Had I known how much it was going to rain on this day, I might have bought it

This was a cute shirt as well...

Here are some photos for NaCler...

We stopped at Innoventions and made some velcro frogs...

Then we were off into the misty morning headed to the Universe of Energy. We witnessed some very un-Disney behavior by the CM manning the doors here. The rain was picking up and for some unknown reason people were getting into the doorway and then stopping. The CM was yelling, "C'mon! Hurry up! I've got to close these doors!" The poor man was very frantic and had lost sight of "good show" at this point. We managed to squeeze in because we did not want to have to wait outside in the rain. Once we got into the pre-show area, there was plenty of room so I'm not sure why the CM was having to close the doors
Anyhow, the rain was not kind to the hairdos today
Witness F1gment's 'do...and yes, she is sticking her tongue out at the camera!

Once we got out of the Universe of Energy we headed over to Downtown Disney to use our Planet Hollywood gift certificate. Neither of us were very hungry so we shared the VIP appetizer platter. I wouldn't recommend it...but it filled our tummies until later...
Here is the ladies' bathroom mirror at Planet Hollywood...anyone know what the men's room looks like?

A few other Planet Hollywood photos...

The worst part about our Planet Hollywood lunch was we were there for an hour and a half that we could have spent in the parks! And the table next to us had a shrieking toddler that both Mom and Dad were successfully tuning out and ignoring
We wandered through a bit of Downtown Disney...
No Mom ~ that's a magnet, not your favorite Disney snack!!!

I seriously contemplated stopping in here for this drink just because it was so cute

The Christmas display right near the Downtown Disney bus stop...

We ran back to the hotel to drop off a few things and get a drink from the drink station. This is what the sky looked like when we got back to the hotel in the late afternoon

Re: Dec 2010: Mayhem Invades Disney World!!!
We were off to EPCOT next. We managed to get over to the Imagination pavilion right after it closed. We slipped around to the shop and found it open ~ yay! So we went inside to get Mom a new F1gment shirt. The CM's were't very gracious as they hadn't realized the doors were still unlocked, so we made our selections quickly and left.

We made our way over to Innoventions, where we thought we were supposed to get our free Disney Visa photo taken. It was super crowded though so Mom said she was going to get some dinner since it was a little after 7, while I went to ride Mission Space and Test Track.

This room was very welcome during this trip, I think it was down in the low 50's or upper 40's by this point in the evening...

I really enjoy listening and watching the Fountain of Nations...

I went to pick Mom up at the Electric Umbrella, where I thought she was having dinner...turns out she had decided to have ice cream instead
Parents!! It is so hard raising them these days

The line wasn't getting any shorter for photos so we decided to go ahead and join the crowd and wait for our photo pass photos...

It is so fun to watch the kids with the characters...

Donald was messing around with me while we were waiting to take photos. He would indicate he wanted me to take a photo and then would jump back around the divider...silly Donald!

We stopped at the photo pass on the way out and found out we hadn't been in the correct spot for getting our free Disney Visa photo
Oh well, now we know we have to go to a different spot in Innoventions for our free photo ~ if they are still doing that promotion the next time we go
One last shot of EPCOT at night before we head over to Hollywood Studios...

Re: Dec 2010: Mayhem Invades Disney World!!!
We spent the rest of our evening over at Hollywood Studios.

We watched the fireworks before we went in...I don't know if they were from Illuminations or Mickey's Christmas party...

Mom decided this was the night she would have her turkey leg ~ one of her favorite meals while at WDW. While she ate, I went on RNR coaster...

I didn't realize when I took this photo how germy this door is supposed to be

Then we were off to see the Osborne Lights one more time...Since we have visited here many times, I'll try to just include some of the smaller details this time around...

It wasn't as crowded this evening...

Hidden Mickey!!!

It really is quite an amazing display!

I believe someone had asked about the menorah...I don't know that it was illuminated differently for the different nights of Hanukka

I tried some artsy, action-y shots...

A shot of the big hat...

And that's a wrap on day 11...

The grilling scene was one that made me chuckle too! Mom and I were both tired, cold and a little damp that evening so the pictures weren't the best. Plus I had just had an argument with her about her eating ice cream instead of a proper dinnerMmeLeota wrote:A always, way awesome pics Amy!!! Yup, I love taking photos ~ especially at Disney! I realize looking back that we did accomplish quite a lot each day, even if it didn't feel like we quite saw everything I wanted to...Len90 wrote:Wow that was a photo intense day 10. That is actually one thing that I have noticed over the years. No matter how many times you go and how long you stay, there is always something that you seem to skip over.Amy wrote:Yup, I love taking photos ~ especially at Disney! Just looked over your Day 11 pictures and love the Osbourne light photos. That is definitely not a Hanukkah menorah as it only has 7 candle slots on it. A menorah has 9 on it.

Thanks for the clarification, Len90. I wonder if Kwanzaa uses one with 7 or 9 candle slots?Len90 wrote:That is definitely not a Hanukkah menorah as it only has 7 candle slots on it. A menorah has 9 on it.

Flipping back through the pictures, I saw one that I liked that I forgot to mention. The "Finding Nemo" seagulls t-shirt with the "mine mine mine" written on it! I love it!!!
I have a Mount Wannahakaloogi shirt that would go perfectly with it!

Amy and F1gment ~ Day 12
As was getting to be the norm, we started off with breakfast in the room. Being as it was our next to last day, I splurged a bit and had a Mickey waffle. This CM was working like crazy and doing a great job!

Good morning Mickey!

We arrived at EPCOT about 11 am. Spaceship Earth was looking it's "golfball in the rough" best this morning...

It was very chilly this morning ~ and stayed that way pretty much all day...the plants were all tucked in

When did they paint these stripes on SE?!

I think I read somewhere that these tarps are leaving the plaza? I surely won't miss them, although I'm sure they are handy for providing shade in the hotter months...

We rode Mom's favorite first ~ well, it is only her favorite because she really likes Figment.

I liked the lights they used for launching the vehicles...

A few more photos on our way over to World Showcase...

Segway Tour ~ party of one...

Did I mention it was a bit windy along with being cold this morning? These trees in Canada weren't sure which way the wind was blowing!

Canada's plants are evidently a little more hardy than those in Future World

I checked with le cellier to see if we could get in. The CM's each stifled a laugh, rolled their eyes and said no. Luckily the soup and breadsticks were available to go, so I went ahead and ordered that for Mom and she ate it over in the kidstop area since it was still wicked cold. The cup of soup was proclaimed good by Mom. I only tasted one bite and would have liked it better without the bazillion onions that it had in it. The breadsticks were pretty tasty. Pretty pricey for a small snack though ~ $11.50
Really Canada? It really does seem a little high, even by Disney standards
I did find out a tidbit of info from the Canada CM's. They told me they purposely overbook the restaurant by about 20% each day. Wonder if that ever bites them in the heine?

The breadstick mix ~ sourdough, pretzel, multigrain

By Day 12, F1gment was no longer a willing photo subject
Or maybe I had inquired if I could borrow her fluffy down coat...I forget

After our snack, we headed in to watch Oh Canada ~ they really do have a beautiful pavilion

Wow Disney looks really cold that day. Disney horticulture will go out and put those blankets over any plant that can be damaged by frost. Good to see those blankets being used throughout the park! I like how you took pictures of all the angles of Imagination pavilion. I actually have one of the water fall in front of it that is part of my background loop.
