I left it over there, just come by and get it.
Normally you wouldn't want a gin fizz in the morning though, you can have a breakfast martini.

I don't mind having breakfast foods for supper. If I had a private jet I would so be on it right now!Wizzard419 wrote:I left it over there, just come by and get it.

I'm not heavily into bloody mary's. Only on occasion will I have one, not sure why I don't like them though. I can always have a breakfast martini, still healthier for you than Sunny D.

Okies, got my cast iron grill and pannini press this week so I tried it out on cuban sandwiches. I hate the electric ones because they never get hot enough and cannot retain the heat compared to cast iron.
It worked good for the Cubans.

Also, during the week, there was buttermilk fried chicken. I actually like this one better the next day.

I like the italian one when it's hot, but that is also really good when it's chilled.

Re: Food Pr0n!
Ok time for this week's installment.
First we have a nice asparagus (store bought asparagus as mine are still growing) risotto.

Then I made more pizzas with the lazy dough, this one is an atlantic city style one (mozz on the crust and then a spiral of sauce), which is like a halfway mix between a NY and a Chicago style. I was surprised at how different it tastes compared to one with sauce on the bottom layer.

So during the week I had a day where I was locked in meetings all day and get almost no time for lunch (worst was a few years back where I had at least one day a week like that for a month). So the way to not be starving in the middle of a meeting is a toasted PB and bananna sandwich. Since it's not fried it's the Skinny Elvis.

I also made this greek like thing (had it in a greek diner up north but wasn't sure of the name) for tea breaks. It was made with left-over ricotta, honey, lemon zest, and an egg, wrapped in phyllo and baked.

For movie night I made up some pecan popcorn, I think the storebought version is called Poppycock. If anyone has the dolewhip mix and wants to try making dolewhip flavored popcorn they would probably replace all the brown sugar in my rec. with white sugar and only use light corn syrup, after it's coated dust bake/dry and after about 30 mins (or 45 even) dust with the mix and dry some more. It should set up the flavored crust without burning the dairy mix in it.

Here we have a Harrogate Nights, a bit sweet but with more citrus juice it balanced out.

The Pegu (named for the Pegu Club in Burma)

and raspberry crème brûlée

Oh gee, I almost forgot about Friday. So I apparently must have been feeling Catholic or something so I made fish and chips as well as a saffron aioli to go with the hand cut chips (and slaw). It's so catholic you would swear you were in Father McFeeley's naked puzzle basement.

Did you make the pb+b ahead of time and take it with you or make it at the office?

With the skinny elvis it was a day I was in my home office (thank god) so I made it up before starting work. Since I don't like having my landline tied up all day one year I tried using my iphone and skype and I almost ran out of juice during a meeting (reconnected and used a mic and PC setup for all meetings since).

Re: Food Pr0n!
Ok update time.
So here we have some madelines that are injected with a darjeeling tea and meyer lemon zest syrup. I learned that trick to help keep them moist as they go stale after only a day.

The "Easter Punch" was actually what I use for fresh fruit shots, just larger and with lemon. I take grey goose and muddle with strawberries and let it chill for a little bit and strain out the flesh so you get a nice clean vodka. Most flavored vodkas always taste awful, like cough medicine.

Here is some french toast with homemade brioche, it's actually the easiest french toast since you mix up the batter the night before and have the bread sliced up and drying overnight as well. I totally could have used an orange slice and parsley to make it a true diner breakfast.

Here is duck with a port wine and cherry sauce, the nice thing about the sauces is that you can make them up hours in advance and finish them right before serving (the sauce itself only took about 10 mins to make anyway).

And here is strawberry tiramisu, which is actually more like a trifle (using ladyfingers rather than cake and mascarpone/zabiogne rather than custard) and has no coffee so there is no pick up. Also a glass of port wine.

Re: Food Pr0n!
I forgot about last week, been looking over employee files of people they (other depts) want to poach from me. At least I only stand to lose 3 people as opposed to other guys who are going to lose half their dept. if the government wants to pay us.
Also playing restaurant apparently, parents come by for meals then go away.

Should I put the pictures of everything we had to throw away here?
