That's kind of extreme. You don't like any of those attractions?Jacca5660 wrote:How about any ride built or rehabed during the Eisner years!!
Can't wait to take my twin boys on their first trip to Walt Disney World! Planning on heading there sometime Feb-May 2014!

Nah, he just has an irrational hatred for anyone with enough business sense to keep the Disney corp. from being bought out.

Re: Rides That Need To Be Renovated
What could use some work in EPCOT is the American Adventure. The final scene before the Golden Dreams/Wings montage is so anti-climactic. Rosie the Riveter working on a ship during WWII and hoping her man is home for Christmas. Really? Then let's jump ahead 70 years over the course of a 30 second montage. I realize they can't necessarily realistically afford to update the ride for every major event, but how about some eras? Maybe it's more of a political issue than simply the money as you've got Civil Rights, the Peace Movement/Free Love era, Cold War: Korea/Vietnam, and more recently post-9/11 America mixed in there, but how about the space age, the computer age, etc. I don't know, they're going to start running out of room in the Hall of Presidents but they can't update AA.
They need a LOT of TLC at DisneyQuest too. Either close it down or fix it up but for goodness sake the "attractions" there are getting out of date or at least seriously worn down. That place was so cool when it first opened, and still is to an extent, but man it's gone down hill fast which is a shame for something with so much unrealized potential. I blame Disney's lack ofadvertising. Put the DQ maps with the water park maps at resorts/info booths or something more than just an asterisk on extra fun passes.

Don't forget, everyone would rather have revisionist history rather than straight up reality.
They do have a sponsor though, right? I think it's Brawny or some other paper product. Pretty much the last war everyone liked was WWII, hence why it's the main ingredient in oscar bait. Pretty much all that stuff afterwards stirs up mixed emotions and so forth. That and I am guessing they would have to trim out some part of the show for a new segment. I'm all for removing women's sufferage.
Disneyquest is kind of just a placeholder now, the company that ran it went under so they closed down all but that one I think. The US arcade died almost 20 years ago, and japan's died like 5 to 10 years ago.

Yep, the company did die out not long after it started. They closed down the other locations (I remember there was one in Chicago, but I can't recall if any other locations) and Disney took back Orlando. I think it just stays there because they have no idea of what to do with that spot yet...Wizzard419 wrote:Disneyquest is kind of just a placeholder now, the company that ran it went under so they closed down all but that one I think. I think it's like Swanson or some other purveyor of cheap, quick ready made meals because I think it's whoever does the actual dining at the AA is the pavilion sponsor. I always thought it was kind of dumb how they squeezed women's suffrage in with like the industrial revolution. As far as I'm concerned one of the most bizarre inclusions in AA for me has always been Teddy Roosevelt's declaring national parks (or in the show expansion of national parks) w/ John Muir. It's important, sure, but really is it THAT important? They skipped the War of 1812 and the Spanish-American War for that?Wizzard419 wrote:Don't forget, everyone would rather have revisionist history rather than straight up reality. They do have a sponsor though, right? As far as DQ, I think there was only ever one other DQ and that was in Chicago. They had planned on expanding to meet demand, but they never gave it too much marketing so it almost seemed doomed to fail from jump. The crazy thing is the last two times I've gone I've never seen the place busier. There was like 25 minutes to get on the 3-d PotC attraction. Longer than I've ever waited for the actual PotC I think. But the place is in such disrepair. The still have Alien Encounter ExtraTERRORestrial 360º games upstairs, did anyone tell them that attraction's been gone for years....or that their game screens need to be cleaned every so often. If there weren't attendants up there I'd swear they forgot they had that upper floor.

Because the only war that is sexy to today is WWII. They only talk about the civil war out of obligation, but I don't recall if there are scenes that directly talk about the Revolutionary War itself or if they only note the various documents.Mr.ToadWildRider wrote: As far as I'm concerned one of the most bizarre inclusions in AA for me has always been Teddy Roosevelt's declaring national parks (or in the show expansion of national parks) w/ John Muir. The attraction can't cover any American historical event in any detail because quite frankly no one would want to sit there that long.Wizzard419 wrote:Because the only war that is sexy to today is WWII. The civil war is covered quickly through Frederick Douglas and the "Two Brothers" song with the family being photographed by Mathew Brady.
The Revolution War is covered by song "In the Days of 76" and the two soldiers at Valley Forge with Washington on his horse.
And frankly, AA would be boring if the only historical events we covered is going from one war to another to another. There's more to american history than the wars. It's the American "Adventure", not the American "Warfare". It is ideally trying to cover the early events that helped to change the course of american history.
And the national parks was a great achievement of Teddy Roosevelt. Yeh, for not only being the earliest environmental conservatism in this country, but also from the legal and political manuevering he employed to get it done.

But at the same time, we are a war loving country. Make a WWII movie as a serious drama and you're on the short list for an oscar. Hell, we have 24 hour military channels, and half of the History Channel is war stuff. That and people had picnics to watch the civil war.

...and yet there people nationwide protesting the Vietnam Conflict, the Gulf War, Operation Freedom in Iraq, the military involvement in Afgahnistan, and the recent involvement in Libya? If we love it so much, how come we hate it so much?Wizzard419 wrote:But at the same time, we are a war loving country. Make a WWII movie as a serious drama and you're on the short list for an oscar. Back to the American Adventure, I agree that an update is necessary, but I also think it does a pretty good job of being relatively timeless. At least they don't have to update it every 4-8 years, whenever there's a new president.

Re: Rides That Need To Be Renovated
Unfortunately, given how the show is "built" it's not that easy to edit something out and put a different scene in its place. That's why they only updated the film at the end and brought in new singers to re-do a longer version of "Golden Dream".
