Re: Lagoon Views at the Polynesian
I stayed in a "theme park view" room at the Polynesian two years and it was absolutely fabulous!!! You step out onto your balcony and the 7 Seas Lagoon is spread out before you like Magic. You have a great view of the castle at night and the fireworks (they even pipe even the music from Wishes). There's also a great view of the Electric Water Pagent. It's expensive but if you can do it at least once, it it definitely worth it!!

So they actually have the music from Wishes right in your room? That would be awesomefancyfeet wrote:I stayed in a "theme park view" room at the Polynesian two years and it was absolutely fabulous!!! I still don't know... I think I might be biased because I can see the pacific ocean from my backyard. But I wonder if the people who appreciate the view more are also in landlocked states and don't live by a large body of water?

Re: Lagoon Views at the Polynesian
That could be. I think people are appreciating the view of the parks too. I myself just can't justify spending extra hundreds of dollars for a room view that I will appreciate for a few minutes at the most each day. As long as the bed is comfortable, I am a happy camper!Wizzard419 wrote:I still don't know... I think I might be biased because I can see the pacific ocean from my backyard. I live in New Hampshire so I have the ocean nearby too, but can definitely still appreciate the daily view of the 7 Seas Lagoon. It's also having the white sandy beach out front with the tiki torches, watching the ferries and the monorail going by, seeing the Grand Floriddian and Contemporary lit up at night, and the castle changing colors. If you can the next time you're at Disney, check out the view from the beach, relax on one of the lounge chairs, maybe watch the fireworks, and see if you think it might be worth it to you.

Re: Lagoon Views at the Polynesian
referring to amy's question, i assume the piped in fireworks soundtrack you hear is coming from outdoor speakers? not actually in your room? how high up was your balcony, could you clearly hear the presentation? was it good enough to where you saw many other families out on their balconies for this? is it equal to or less than the pleasure of being in the crowd on main street for this type of viewing?fancyfeet wrote:I live in New Hampshire so I have the ocean nearby too, but can definitely still appreciate the daily view of the 7 Seas Lagoon. I know that the Belagio in Las Vegas has a channel you can turn to on your TV that has the music synced up for their giant fountain...so you could watch and listen from your room. I wonder if the MK resorts have anything like that.

1986: Offsite
1997: Offsite
2001: Coronado Springs
2008: Shades of Green / Saratoga Springs (WDW Half Marathon)
2009: Port Orleans French Quarter (WDW Half Marathon)
2010: Port Orleans Riverside (Honeymoon)
2011: Old Key West / Bay Lake Tower
2014: Kidani Village
2015: Old Key West (5th Wedding Anniversary)
2016: Old Key West (Kids' first WDW vacation in December!)

Re: Lagoon Views at the Polynesian
Yes, sorry, the music was piped in from the outside speakers not inside my room, but I could hear it from either my balcony or the beach out front. I was on the 3rd floor right in the middle of the Hawaii building - couldn't have been a better room for my first visit there. It is definitely more comfortable than standing around in the crowd on Main Street (the balcony's have a couple chairs and a small table) and I thought the view of the fireworks was great. I did see other families on their balconies during the show. Also, if you stay in Hawaii or the other theme room building, there is a concierge lounge where you can go and for free, get food 4 times a day (breakfast, mid day snacks, 5pm tid bit snacks, and later cookies and deserts.)

Not any I've been in around EPCOT. It would be cool if you have a room facing World Showcase to get the music in synch for Illuminations.theBIGyowski wrote:I know that the Belagio in Las Vegas has a channel you can turn to on your TV that has the music synced up for their giant fountain...so you could watch and listen from your room. Are those the club level rooms?fancyfeet wrote:Yes, sorry, the music was piped in from the outside speakers not inside my room, but I could hear it from either my balcony or the beach out front. Unfortunately I'm not sure what a club level room is. But I had requested (and paid for) a theme park view room and was told upon check in, that my room was in the concierge building. I'm not sure if that means all theme park view rooms are in Hawaii and the one right beside it (Tonga??) and are all considered concierge or not.

I equate club level with concierge, and if they told you that you were in the concierge building that would stand to reason all the Hawaii rooms are considered concierge at the very least.fancyfeet wrote:Unfortunately I'm not sure what a club level room is. I think the other reason that some of us don't feel the view is that great is going back to the earlier comment about how you're going to be in the parks/dtd till you drop. If you're going to call it an early night then it's a great view.

Re: Lagoon Views at the Polynesian
I have to admit, when I get a room at Disney - the view is the last thing I think of because you're right - if you're at the park all day, you're not going to spend much time at night enjoying the view.Wizzard419 wrote:I think the other reason that some of us don't feel the view is that great is going back to the earlier comment about how you're going to be in the parks/dtd till you drop. Re: Lagoon Views at the Polynesian
i think this is more of an adults, not so much family kind of thing. i love the river running thru POFQ/R, but i agree, i would certainly never pay for a "water view" room. yet, something like this is a little different. a more private, or escape oriented disney moment that you would actually take the time to schedule in? fancyfeet does make it sound good, and taken as suggested, a one time thing to experience, i believe "experience" would be the word for it. constantly exploring all of the wdw property for new/unique spots & things to do, this sounds like one i'd like to try (when the kids are gone). i imagine you're not limited to the poly for a room like this, probably most resorts on the lagoon have a (pricey) section like this. doesn't even slightly grab your interest?mindflipper wrote:I have to admit, when I get a room at Disney - the view is the last thing I think of because you're right - if you're at the park all day, you're not going to spend much time at night enjoying the view.
