Good tip. It will leave you worrying if dinner will stay down. I did orange right after a meal at Le Cellier. It was about 20 minutes after leaving the restaurant and I definitely should have waited a bit longer.
Hey, why should this be a problem? Don't they include barf bags in the ride (or should I use some other way to refer to it...such as paper bags for vomit collection....)?

I remember at Sea World (San Diego), a long time ago, they had the simulator ride but then totally shut off the motion in one of them so that shorter people/motion sickness people could go on it. If it wasn't so wasteful of a machine it would be great.
I believe that is what they have done with the one side of Mission Space is turn off the centrifuge part...

One side is called the orange team, the other the green team; I can't recall which is the closed down centrifuge. I believe they are rotating from side to side so that machinery is still used, just not all the time.

That would make sense...and then they call whichever side is operating the centrifuge the orange side...I still would love to see it operating!

Orange spins; green does not--it only tilts back and forth. We've ridden both sides multiple times. I agree that you should try green first. There are still some visual tricks that occur during the ride that can make you feel sick, regardless of whether you're on the orange or green side.
I always found the take-off to be the most upchuck-y part. Choose one cloud off in the distance and focus on it as you take off. If you keep moving your eyes from cloud to cloud during take-off, you'll feel queasy. After you get into space and around the moon, you should be OK.

I definitely have to agree. The takeoff is the worst, especially on orange. You go from nothing to full force in just a second or two. I would definitely advise not moving your head or eyes off of a single point. Trying to move will only make you more tempted to use a service bag. The moon is a bit rough on orange, but really is just a little bump on the green. For the orange it does come close to the takeoff.

I agree that the worst part of Mission: Space is just waiting in the line. Everyone's used to the standard "should be in good health", "no heart conditions", "expectant mothers should not ride" type of restrictions that are part of every ride that's just a tiny bit thrilling, but this is a whole new level. If I remember correctly, they hand you a card with the warnings, they're posted everywhere, play them in the queue and preshow, and then you're given a last chance to exit just before you board. The first time we rode it, my Dad said something along the lines of "It's like they don't want you to ride it!".
If you've ever been on one of those rides at a fair or amusement park (that often seems to be themed as a spaceship, for some reason) where you stand against a wall and it spins and the forces push you against the wall, the sensation to me is similar to how Mission: Space Orange is in the intense parts.
Can't wait to take my twin boys on their first trip to Walt Disney World! Planning on heading there sometime Feb-May 2014!

I think the reason they really hammer it in is because it has had a higher rate of issues (injuries and sickness) than other rides and they want to make sure that you know you may not be right for the orange side. Not just for any lawsuits, but I also imagine having to clean up a ride vehicle puts a crimp in the day too.
Speaking of, if someone pukes in the orange, what does disney do for the other people trapped in there?

Yuck ~ that would be awful

I would imagine they don't do anything though...

Gross!

I think I'd puke as a chain reaction rather than the motion sickness!

That's too bad they don't have a hose or something you can use to at least get the chunks and some of the smell off you.

I think I'd have to go straight back to the room at that point.
