I assume you can only choose to skip it if the line is shorter?Amy wrote:I wonder if the new crypt will be like Pooh where you can choose to go through the interactive part, or skip it and go directly into the attraction.

Can't wait to take my twin boys on their first trip to Walt Disney World! Planning on heading there sometime Feb-May 2014!
Re: Ideas on new Haunted Mansion que
Was at MK earlier tonight and noticed some cuts in the pavement in the Haunted Mansion queue. Looks like there will be two separate lines. To the left, choose to go through the crypt. To the right, just go to the doors to the Mansion.

Why would anyone go in the line to go through the new crypts when you could bypass and go straight to the door?!? That just doesn't make sense to me...MadEye wrote:Was at MK earlier tonight and noticed some cuts in the pavement in the Haunted Mansion queue. Looks like there will be two separate lines. I would if I haven't seen the new queue area. I plan on spending some time in there taking pictures later this month if it opens before the end of the month which is the rumor I've been hearing. I don't care if it's a walk on... It's something new so I have to check it out.mindflipper wrote:Why would anyone go in the line to go through the new crypts when you could bypass and go straight to the door?!? That would be what I would do as well. After I had experienced and photographed the new crypt, then I might be inclined to skip the interactive part on future trips...unless there is something really awesome happening in the cryptNaCler wrote:I would if I haven't seen the new queue area. So if you get out of the line to go see the crypts, how do you get back in with those in the line not thinking you're a line-skipper?

I'm sure there is a planned merge somewhere along the two lines...mindflipper wrote:So if you get out of the line to go see the crypts, how do you get back in with those in the line not thinking you're a line-skipper?

Mad Eye, why didn't it work? Philharmagic has FPs (not that you need them usually). Like HM, it has shows at intervals. I would think you could do the same for HM?MadEye wrote:Fastpass will not be coming back to Haunted Mansion for one reason. It didn't work.

Re: Ideas on new Haunted Mansion que
I don't know, that's just what I've been told the many times I've asked different CMs. So I'll believe it, for now. And Philharmagic's Fastpass machines are being used for Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh and I don't remember when the last time I've seen them open for Philharmagic now that I think about it.momeja wrote:Mad Eye, why didn't it work? I don't remember there be any FP for Phil when I was there back on Dec. 4th.MadEye wrote:I don't know, that's just what I've been told the many times I've asked different CMs. So I'll believe it, for now. They were already being used by Pooh if I'm not mistaken.mindflipper wrote:I don't remember there be any FP for Phil when I was there back on Dec. 4th.
Side note: saw the projected HHGs and all I can say/think is thankfully it is temporary. There was one point that the projection went double (think 3D film without the glasses). Hopefully the look of the ghosts and animation are better than they are now...

Re: Ideas on new Haunted Mansion que
at the end of oct., early nov. when we were there, i can't recall if the machines were there or not. i can tell you that there was no need for them. the place doesn't ever even come close to getting half full anymore. also, throughout our stay, more than once a cm came through a magic kingdom ride line w/ a fist full of phil fast passes for anyone who wanted 'em (w/ no restrictions, even if you already had a fastpass somewhere else, and several day expiration dates). i still think it's the best 3-d around, and always hit it at least once a visit, but apparently attendance is permanently down to make moves like this. don't think there's a need or probability to see the machines again there, hope it doesn't bode ill for the ride.mindflipper wrote:I don't remember there be any FP for Phil when I was there back on Dec. 4th.

I agree. It's the best 3D Disney has and a completely fun experience. My hope is that it will be around for many years to come.nicklesm17 wrote:i still think it's the best 3-d around, and always hit it at least once a visit, but apparently attendance is permanently down to make moves like this. don't think there's a need or probability to see the machines again there, hope it doesn't bode ill for the ride.

Re: Ideas on new Haunted Mansion que
I think the concerns that so many seem to have about the queue for the mansion are premature. The pictures from what can be seen look quite substantial. Pretty attractive crupt structures. Even if there are no interactive elements and you just walk through a winding maze of crypts featuring carved reliefs of those departed that you encounter later in the graveyard scene it would be a plus. Think of how cool the lighting might be at night in this new queue. Maybe even fog effects. I think it's awesome that Disney continues to plus attractions that are soo good already and don't need it. It shows a dedication to keep these beloved attractions on a level of entertainment that is on par with those that are developed from scratch today. I realize that the mansion's line moves quickly and doesn't require any time distracting elements. I would like one however due to a reason that I haven't heard anyone discuss yet. That reason is how fast your moved through the first changing portrait room of Mr. Gracey and the fireplace. For me the HM show starts as soon as you approach the building not when you get to your doombuggy. Quite often, most often, when I enter the first room with Master Gracey's portrait it is either through with it's transformation already and I'm just ushered through to the stretching room. Other times it's just too loud to enjoy and people don't settle down and enjoy the preshow details even through half of the stretching room spiel. Maybe this new queue will promote the feeling that the story has started their experience earlier and guests will get their game face on and start to enjoy the preshow elements is a more thoughtful moody way. Plus I just love great queues. I rarely use fastpass for Everest and Tower because I love the detail so much, I'm never bored. Hell, I don't even think Kali River Rapids is a very good ride but I ride it every trip because the queue is one of Disney's most beautifully detailed. I also love when Disney does things to differenciate Disneyland and WDW versions of the same rides. Disneyland has many superior versions in my opion of many rides with Pirates being the greatest example. I being an east-coaster love the scene changes to the mansion added in 2007 that put it one up on DL and am thrilled that more are to come.

I keep trying to write a reply here, but it seem I keep getting struck with Tourette Syndrome while thinking about what Disney is doing!!
I will say one thing, it comes down to the fact that we have become a society, actually, a planet of people that have to be immersed in multi-media all the time! There are those of you out there the scream at the microwave that you don't have all minute!
