But wouldn't that involve...spending $$$? And what would the likelihood of that be?

I was torn on the show stop from the BPB. The one time I had the kids and we had the opportunity to sit and watch this parade we apparently picked a bad spot. We were there about 30 minutes prior and got (what we thought at the time) a premium curb seat and waited in the May heat. We ate ice cream so it wasn't TOO unbearable. But when the parade came to a stop in front of us, it was just the lousy trampoline and the tumblers were the only ones interacting with us. No characters were anywhere near us. I'm sure many have encountered this same experience and that's probably why the parade got bad reviews from many people. On the flip side... if a float with characters had stopped by us, then we would have thought it was the best parade we had ever seen.

It's a shame that this new parade is apparently lousy. I had really high hopes for this one as my kids love ANYTHING Pixar.
I don't know how it was set up at DHS, but at DCA there were "party zones" heavily marked along the parade route. There would be the zones where the character floats would stop for the show. As long as you were in one of those "party zones", you were gonna see characters. It seems to me the zones were marked with characters as well so you could decide which float you wanted to see. I believe it was also marked in the map. They made sure that the guests knew how the parade worked.

Reports say changes are being made to the parade which will bring in some more entertainment elements, Mr. Potato Head, and some Cars things.

What I am getting from this, the show stops seem to be something that might not ever come back. I see Disney going for a quick fix with this by adding in some Cars things like Mater and Lightning. I really wish Disney would just abandon this and either restore BPB or get a whole new parade with all new floats.

Thanks for posting the article.
From what I've seen in videos, the SOUNDTRACK is terribly annoying. It's the same song over and over.

The soundtrack is HORRENDOUS. It makes the BPB track seem amazing. The party zones were pretty much the entire parade route. The two show stops were able to cover the entire route so everybody was able to take part in it. The hat was the cutoff line. The first stop occurred on Hollywood Blvd. and stopped short of the hat. The second stop, the last float just cut the turn at the hat. If you were near the hat you were able to see both stops if you wanted and get to experience 2 of the three major floats during a stop.

I just watched the video on YouTube. It was AWFUL!!!! Now, as far as the music goes I am severely disappointed. The music is imported from Pixar Play Parade in DCA, however the Todd Rundgren song "Bang on the Drum All Day" is only used at the beginning of the parade for the Monsters Inc. segment. As the parade progresses and each movie floats by, it is represented by a different song ("The Toys are Back in Town for Toy Story, Bugs Just Wanna Have Fun for Bug's Life, Don't Stop Me Now for The Incredibles...and so on. Check out the request list here on Sub.) and I love it! But to play the same portion over and over and to couple it with bad looking paint jobs on old BPB floats and sloppy dancing...it LOOKS like it was thrown together.

Normally I try to find something good in everything, but this one hurts. I love BPB and the PPP and hate to see them mutilated this way. :(

The choreography does seem pretty lame and does make the performers look bad. It is really a shame since those performers are some highly skilled dancers who made the BPB look easy. The only good thing this has going is Tom Staggs was highly unimpressed by it and is trying to implement changes. It is also good to read that Disney is highly aware of the criticism the parade has taken both via guest complaints and on online communities.

If they're highly aware of complaints of the online community, how come they're so deaf as to all of our other complaints and rantings? :? :?:

Selective listening??? I guess Disney is primarily relying on guest complaints inside the park. They also figure that anything they do will always be met with some sort of negativity on the online community.

Time bring back a dead horse.

We all seemed to think that the main reason for changing over BPB was $$$. However, I talked to some CMs while waiting for Countdown to Lame and they talked of a different reason: heat exhaustion of the dancers. The CMs claimed that during the summer months it would almost be a daily occurrence for one dancer to leave the parade from dehydration or heat exhaustion. I personally don't know how much to believe but those dancers were sweating pretty heavily during the first party stop.

Interesting. I can see that as being a possible reason. I wonder if they will go back to Block Party Bash when the weather becomes cooler then?

Doubt it as the change has stayed. The only issue I have with all of this is that Move It! Shake It! Celebrate It! has continued. It might be a little less intense of a routine than BPB but it sill involves a lot of dancing.

Yeah, that's true, the Move It parade is pretty physical for the dancers as well. It might have been a combination of expense and performer comfort that took out BPB. They might have also noticed dwindling numbers of people watching the parade too and decided to shake it up a bit.
