Ticket question

Post by jlpeaches255 » Feb Tue 22, 2011 7:09 pm

I need some help if you don't mind. I have a co-worker who is going to the World in a week or so. They have resort reservations but no park tickets yet. Can she purchase her tickets at the resort and have them added to her key to the world card? I know when you purchase a package they are included but I am not sure about added them in later. Thanks for any help you guys can give me.

I'm pretty sure that you can buy tickets right at your hotel. They couldn't sell us our Annual Passes at the hotel though, for those we had to go to a park guest relations office.

I bought a one day pass to EPCOT when we got back from our Disney cruise. It took 5 min at the concierge desk at port Orleans riverside.

Whenever I stay at a resort I have always bought my tickets at the resort and not at any front gate. Amy is right; AP's have to be purchased at front gate/guest relations.

And do they put the tickets on your Key to the World card or do they give you those paper tickets?

I think you can do it either way. When we first arrived, our package included 10 day tickets which were right on our Key to the World card, along with our dining plan and hotel key, and charging privileges. But I saw people with both kinds of tickets at the gates, the regular thin plastic tickets with characters on the back, and the Key to the World cards.

The only reason some people prefer the other, paper tickets is to have them as keepsakes since they have characters on them. Of course you could always do the same thing with your Key to the World since it has your name and dates on it. I always go for putting my park hopper on my Key to the World because it's one less thing to have to keep up with and a plastic card is easier to keep intact than a paper one.

I would agree it is nicer to keep track of one thing. The character tickets aren't really paper though, just a really thin plastic.

jlpeaches - When I was there in December I purchased my tickets and they stated that it could not be placed on my room key as the room was booked with a Florida resident rate and I needed out of state tickets. So, I got the paper ones for each day. My mom bought her tickets and they were able to put it on the room key. I would assume that they can put your friends tickets on the room key, but I can't tell you definitively yes or no.

That should've made no difference. I stayed at the Beach Club in December with an AP rate. We were able to do all of the following:

1. My wife had a 10-day park hopper with no expiration that they converted to a plastic card. Wasn't the same as the room key though. Her's was yellow.
2. My mom and mother in law both bought tickets and had them added to their room keys.
1. I didn't need tickets, obviously :)
No one's gloomy or complaining while the flatware's entertaining.

When I got my pass they told me I couldn't use my key to the world card at the parks unless you book the room and the passes at the same time. We already had my key to the world so they gave us mickey plastic paper park passes. That said it seems the policy changes depending on who you talk to.

We noticed many inconsistencies when we were there. You could ask five different CM's the same question and get five very different responses :(

The problem is that the whole ticket system is so needlessly complex it makes it hard for anyone to follow. And once they get nailed down, some new twist in pricing comes along...

Wow so I guess my best advice to her would still be to purchase the tickets at her resort and they may or may not add it to her room key. I am sure she really won't care either way. I was just hoping to save her one more thing to keep track of.
