According to most reports here on subsonic, it never moves. It stopped working, and Diz hasn't repaired it yet. But I have read where some people disagree and said it does move, so if there are any Disney CM's out there that can confirm it's non-functional, it would be great to know for a fact.Wizzard419 wrote:So, what's wrong with the yeti on EE?

Yes...the last several few trips I have been on...all he had was a strobe light pointed at him. So...going back to January of 2009 I know for a fact he has not moved.
That said...remember that the Yeti is fine...it is the foundation he is bolted to that has been uncooperative.

I remember from the special they did for the ride, they said the Yeti is directly connected to the foundation and it, the track, and the shell are technically seperate things that never touch.

I heard the same thing, but I thought it even said the foundation for the Yeti was separate too.Wizzard419 wrote:I remember from the special they did for the ride, they said the Yeti is directly connected to the foundation and it, the track, and the shell are technically seperate things that never touch.

Yeah...three things (mountain, track, Yeti) all with their own foundations that never touch each other.mindflipper wrote:I heard the same thing, but I thought it even said the foundation for the Yeti was separate too.Wizzard419 wrote:I remember from the special they did for the ride, they said the Yeti is directly connected to the foundation and it, the track, and the shell are technically seperate things that never touch.
I do find it sad/funny that it was hyped up so much and the engineering was bragged about...only to fail due to that same engineering
Where is Joe Rohde when you need him?

Re: Rides That Need To Be Renovated
They probably figure that nobody is saying "I refuse to ride EE until they fix that Yettie!" so they don't care. Walt would fire whoever was in charge of that broken Yettie

Re: Rides That Need To Be Renovated
I've read that it's difficult to fix the Yeti because of the weight and position of the swiping arm. It's a pity, though. It was really cool when he swiped you as you sped past.

So you got to experience the functional Yeti? Cool! It was definitely a stationary Yeti when we went in December. It did look pretty cool with the strobe lights so I can only imagine how awesome it would (hopefully will?!?!) be when it is running!!momeja wrote:I've read that it's difficult to fix the Yeti because of the weight and position of the swiping arm. We got to ride 4 times in a row during a slow emh at animal kingdom in 2007. It was functioning then, very impressive. My favorite part is when your on the dead end track and he stomps in and the train shakes with every step.

Is that the part in the dark? Where there is now a projection of him ripping up the track?northernmousefan2007 wrote:We got to ride 4 times in a row during a slow emh at animal kingdom in 2007. Re: Rides That Need To Be Renovated
The ripping of the track is a different section. I can kind of see the yeti being damaged by it's own movement, that thing has a lot of force and since it is directly connected to the foundation, there is nothing else to displace it on.
