Thanksgiving Trip?

I'm thinking about taking the family to WDW for Thanksgiving week/day/weekend. Leave home on Wednesday, parks on Thursday - Saturday, home on Sunday. Anyone ever done this and how are the crowds?

My boss does this every year (he goes the whole week).
He loves it, but tells me that the crowds are terrible! I have convinced him that they cannot be as bad as they are at Christmas...
Looking at touringplans.com, they call the crowds a 10 (the most people) every day except Sunday (a 7).

If you play your cards right, like we did at Christmas, you can see everything, have a great time and only touch on those massive crowds.
Don't let any of this discourage you...a crowded day at WDW is better than any day at home/work

I would think it would be super crowded on a holiday weekend I wonder if Thursday would actually be the best since more people would want to be somewhere eating turkey?

Yes, the parks are "super-crowded" as Amy said. I know, I've done it. Even rides normally with short lines will have 30+ minutes wait time, and the more popular E Ticket rides will be close to an hour or longer (I can't remember if this was Thanksgiving Day or Christmas Day, but Soarin had a 100 minute wait time!). And if you don't have any ADR's you're going to be doing the fast-food options only. On Thanksgiving day, many restaurants will be in holiday-mode with limited menu options because they're trying to feed as many guests as quickly as possible. For instance, the Liberty Tree Tavern becomes a family style dining like Ohana's where it's a Thanksgiving family feast with Turkey, stuffing, green beans, etc. You need to check it out because the menu changes are not widely published and I could not find anywhere on the official website that gave any information about it.

Did this a very long time ago, '89. The crowds were thick, however they were open later than on less busy days. Still no where's near as busy as Christmas! You might want to think about flying out on Tue., the day before Thanksgiving is always a crazy day for flying
