Re: Are you 23?
Way too far for me to go...

Re: Are you 23?
Okay, I got two questions concerning D23:
1. Is it completely worthwhile to buy the membership?
(I hope to get a "yes" here)
2. Living outside the US, I got a problem with purchasing (or even looking at the offer to purchase) a membership - I get redirected to the co.uk-store (although I'm not living there either) every time I try to access disneystore.com. I know most of you will live in the US, but maybe there is somebody here who knows how I can circumvent that redirection without using a US-based proxy?
Edit: Never mind the second one, it's tricky but I was finally able to access disneystore.com

Re: Are you 23?
As all the D23 events are in the US - to be honest - I don't think the membership would be worth it for anyone outside the US. IMHO the D23 merchandise isn't worth the memership. The only thing you would get out of it would be the magazine and that seems a bit pricey...
Re: Are you 23?
I guess you got a point there, although the magazine itself is pricey, too - $15,95 an issue if you pick it up in retail. The four issues a year would be like ten bucks less then the membership - not considering shipping costs, of course.
Well, I guess I won't do it, although it'd be interesting...

Re: Are you 23?
I would have to agree that D23 membership isn't all that it is cracked up to be, unless you live close to the parks ~ DL in California in particular. The magazine isn't as good as the old Disney magazine, at least it generally isn't as interesting to me. I joined the first year because of the excitement of "charter member" status, won a book in a writing contest held by D23, and that convinced me to renew for this year, but there haven't been any more contests such as that, other than one drawing contest that there is no way I could ever win with my pitiful drawing skillsArvorenn wrote:I guess you got a point there, although the magazine itself is pricey, too - $15,95 an issue if you pick it up in retail. Okay, you just convinced me to save the money. Some new photo gear and/or a flight ticket seem to be more desirable, if that's the case...Amy wrote: I would have to agree that D23 membership isn't all that it is cracked up to be, unless you live close to the parks ~ DL in California in particular. Re: Are you 23?
Hey, what about spending on Disney merchandising?!? Buy some pins? Vinylmations? Theme-park CD's?Amy wrote:Yeah, definitely spring for the electronics or plane tickets!Arvorenn wrote:Okay, you just convinced me to save the money. Re: Are you 23?
Good point, but since I get most of my merchandising when I am at one of the parks, it'd be more important to save money for a flight ticket (and, of course, the park ticket) - and since I need a new camera these days, which won't be too cheap, to get good photos of the next trip (some of which will certainly end up in these forums), that's important too. And both is more expensive than the merch I'll get...mindflipper wrote:Hey, what about spending on Disney merchandising?!? Buy some pins? Vinylmations? Theme-park CD's?
I guess I should save my comments on Vinylmations, Plush Toys (is there a thread about them? I'll have a look) and the like for the appropriate threads...

Re: Are you 23?
Arvorenn: can't you a train to DLP for a quick Disney theme-park fix?
Re: Are you 23?
To be honest, I am a bit prejudiced towards DLP because it was the "failing park", so to speak, for a longer time - or at least I got the impression. Besides, I'm mostly a WDW guy and I still have to get accustomed to the idea of a Disney Park that's not in an English speaking surrounding (nothing against French, it would be the same thing with a new park in Germanymindflipper wrote:Arvorenn: can't you a train to DLP for a quick Disney theme-park fix?
...but I guess, having read some of you guys opinions, I should rethink that. It takes some 8 hours by train (considering all times I'd have to change trains), but even flying there should be affordable in comparison....

Re: Are you 23?
For those of you who have the D23 membership with the magazine subscription, did you already receive the new issue of D23 magazine for the spring?

The DS website shows a watch, so I wonder if they ran out and start to do tinkerbell pins instead??MoonPet wrote:Okay . . . I'll wait a little longer then.
