Aww, that's disappointing! Where did you hear that?
Can't wait to take my twin boys on their first trip to Walt Disney World! Planning on heading there sometime Feb-May 2014!

He works in Adventureland, if I'm not mistaken. So he would have firsthand knowledge from his managers.

That's really neat! I should have noticed his location.

Packwingfn: where are they going to move you to once the Magic Carpets are closed and moved? Are you joining the Dumbo crew?Polynesian Princess wrote:That's really neat! I should have noticed his location.

Thanks; I couldn't find it on the closure list of some of the various Diz-fan websites; however, absence from the list doesn't mean anything either, as the lists aren't always accurate.MadEye wrote:Wishful thinking on a forum members part...

I'm pretty sure the carpets aren't going anywhere. There was a lot of discussion when they first announced the dueling Dumbos because people assumed they would use that spinner rather than a new one, but I'm almost positive that there was a quote from an Imagineer who had been asked and said they weren't messing with the carpets. Of course, I can't find it anymore though.

I'd heard that the Magic Carpets was the source of the second Dumbo set up. Maybe I misheard??MadEye wrote:Wishful thinking on a forum members part...

Re: Adventureland Bridge Refurb
There has been no confirmation on what the heck they are doing with Dumbo. There is no word on if the current Dumbo will even be a part of the new Dumbo area. Until Disney themselves say something, don't believe a word you hear/read online (or offline for that matter).momeja wrote:I'd heard that the Magic Carpets was the source of the second Dumbo set up. Re: Adventureland Bridge Refurb
IMHO when/if they finally close Dumbo to move it to its new location, I think they would want to keep the Magic Carpets open as it will be the only Dumbo-like ride in the park still running.

Re: Adventureland Bridge Refurb
I think the reason people thought they would move the old Dumbo to the new area is that the two Dumbos were different sizes. One looked like the old one...and the other one had many more Dumbos.

Now...in that mock-up you can see Dumbo has water...something the one in DLR has but not in WDW. So...the entire old Dumbo won't make the move...but maybe just the main things like the Dumbos and the arms and such. At the very least...the Dumbos will make the move because there's no reason to not reuse those.

Re: Adventureland Bridge Refurb
Or they could build two new Dumbos and install them, then after they're opened remove the old one and either (1) change the exterior to be a new ride for WDW somewhere, or (2) put into storage and use it at park to be built....let's say, maybe, if they do one at Shanghai in China? The current version of Dumbo was built at the same time by the same company that built the Dumbo for DLP. I never heard what they did with the previous version of Dumbo that was there.
But really, this should be more appropriately discussed in the FANTASYLAND EXPANSION topic thread. Meanwhile, does anyone know if they have started to remove the old bridge yet?

Packwingfn: any more information exactly what is going on with the bridge? Good to know it will be open way before the peak summer season starts up.
