It's still up in the air but we're debating about staying about 8 days at the WDW parks and maybe going to Universal's IOA after that so maybe staying about ten days out in Florida. That's what I hope to do but we'll see in a few months.
That's a pretty good plan. 8 days should be plenty to enjoy all the parks, maybe one or two of the water parks, and get some shopping in as well ;) I just know some people, that are familiar only with DL, can be overwhelmed when they come to WDW because they aren't prepared for the sheer size of all the parks, and haven't alloted enough time to see everything!

That's why we're dedicating two days to each park. Day 1 and 2 are the Magic Kingdom, day 3 and 4 is for Hollywood Studios, day 5 and 6 is the Animal Kingdom and 7 and 8 are for Epcot. I just wanted to save Epcot for last because that way I can see Illuminations as a little farewell gift. Then if we do IOA then that would be day 9. If not then we'd leave on day 9.

If you aren't truly cemented into that schedule you might want to mix it up a bit. Look at the extra magic hours, especially the evening hours, since those seem to be less crowded than the morning hours. Plus, that way you can catch the shows once, and if you want to see something again, you'll have the chance to. Plus not all of the shows are put on every night, although since you'll be there during a high season they might be showing more often than when we were just there in December...

I'll look into that. Also, we'd be going around the low season since it'd be the end of January/beginning of February so hopefully things will be more lenient.

Oh, I thought you were going to be there over spring break week! Yup, you'll definitely want to be checking on the entertainment schedules then!

Ohh no. I wanted to avoid any of the days that would be real crowded.

Very wise choice! I've been there during that time, and it can get as crowded as it does there for Christmas!

While it would be nice to go around the holidays, being on a budget's helping me stay during the value days. Plus it's before I start the next semester of college in late February so I'd be able to go early in the month.

Dang! Then my family & I must be a glutton for punishment. The 2 times we've been (so far :) ) were over Christmas and over Fourth of July. It was definitely crowded but I guess I don't know any better. Hmmm, I wonder if it's like flying 1st class. LOL I don't think I'll ever personally know that one.

You must really love fighting the crowds! I did go to EPCOT the weekend AFTER the 4th of July one year and boy was that park dead that year (I guess because everyone went the week before)!

Was it terribly hot and humid?

That, and then some! It got a lot better once the sun went down.

On the 4th, it got to 86º and definitely was humid. But by then, we had been there a week and were kind of used to it. What you need to do in these cases (if you're not used to it) is "know" that it's going to be horribly humid and incredibly hot. Then when it's only kind of humid and really warm, it's not so bad. :)

Of course you shouldn't have any worries for the time frame you're going Amy.

Yeah, it is generally pretty nice in November and December which is when we normally venture to Florida if and when we are lucky enough to venture anywhere! When I was little, the only time we went to Florida was in August and it was really bad then  My grandparents normally came to visit us in the summer. I always thought it was simpler for 2 of them to fly back and forth rather than 5 of us, but looking back now I think they were simply being smart and getting out of the weather down there

I remember thinking that too (head North for the summer) but last year the Northern states had heat waves that made it no better than Florida.
