Tokyo Disneyland ~ a photo journey
I visited Tokyo Disneyland and Disney Sea in 2003 as part of a 4 month trip around the world. Seeing as how the trip was a bit over 7 years ago, most of the report will be told in photos

I visited TDL in December of 2003...
The monorail station looks much different than the WDW and DL versions

The polite and organized nature of the Japanese culture extended to the lines found prior to the park's opening time...

The first park in a colder climate, TDL has a canopy covering World Bazaar. As you can see, TDL goes all out on decorations!

Most people are surprised when I tell them that TDL celebrates Halloween and Christmas, but what is really surprising is how much more they decorate than their american counterparts! Some great photos, Amy! I love the Christmas Tree under the canopy area. I believe that area is not called Main Street but the "World Bazaar" (but still identical to Main Street in every way except for the addition of the canopy overhead).

I'm so jealous you went there! I was always amazed and in awe of all the TDS/TDL photos I've seen online. They go real crazy with their decorations but they do it all so well but the place itself is gorgeous.

Thanks for the correction mindflipper. I was wondering about that as I typed it. (I did stop short of putting USA at the end of Main Street though!!mindflipper wrote:Most people are surprised when I tell them that TDL celebrates Halloween and Christmas, but what is really surprising is how much more they decorate than their american counterparts! TDS is such a beautiful park by itself, and then the decorations just add to the beauty! I really hope to get back there somedayelizabethswann wrote:I'm so jealous you went there! Be honest, I thought that was always the lamest name for that area. Could they have not come up with something better? It looks like Main Street USA, so where does the "World Bazaar" come in to play? It doesn't look international.Amy wrote:Thanks for the correction mindflipper. I was wondering about that as I typed it. I'll have to pull up a map of the resort while I am putting photos in so I'm a little more accurate

Well, it looks like an American Street in Japan... that is quite international when you think about it.mindflipper wrote:Be honest, I thought that was always the lamest name for that area. So an American Street in Japan represents the "World" in the "World Bazaar"? Still makes no sense. It may be "International" by your definition, then maybe it should be the "International Bazaar"?

I was responding to your comment about it not looking international.

I did indeed get to spend about a day and a half at DisneySea. It is an awesome park!! I do have photos...you just have to be patient. I am working on three trip reports all at once, the Mayhem Marauder's Meet-up from this past month, Disneyland Paris, and then Tokyo Disneyland, although I haven't gotten any photos posted in this one yetmasterj345 wrote:this is nice too amy, did you take any pics of disneysea park that you could post? did u check it out? if so how did u like that park , that one looks so awesome to me.

My computer is not cooperating fully plus I have to work and do laundry and all that boring stuff so I can't spend all of my time on here

I don't know if you recall, but I cannot see pics at work...they block most photo hosting sites...so I can never see photos in trips reports unless I am home.Amy wrote:I did indeed get to spend about a day and a half at DisneySea. Well, I think so anyhow...
So, FINALLY!!! I have had a chance to check these out. Keep them coming, Amy! I have never ever seen one picture from anywhere except WDW and DLR.
I am loving this!!!!
Kick these three reports into high gear!!

Re: Tokyo Disneyland ~ a photo journey
Here is a nice shot of the entrance at night...

Ok, moving on to Fantasyland...
Nice details from Peter Pan's Flight (I think)...

The Mickey Mouse Review...

This sort of show is what I was anticipating WDW's Mickey's Philharmagic would be like...but it wasn't the same...at all...

It's a Small World's facade looks a lot like DL...as you can probably tell, it was a bit dreary and cold in Tokyo in December! But I was still overjoyed to be there

I love the show at the various times of the hour...

It's a Small World's facade was downright beautiful at night

Inside was very similar to both DL and WDW's interiors, but the ending scene had a little more color...

Saying Merry Christmas in Hawaiian is always so much fun
Even if I can't say it right

Alice's Tea Party....

The view from on the tea cups, The Queen of Hearts Buffet hall...

Cinderella's Golden Carousel...

I liked the sign they had with this attraction...

Yup, I rode Dumbo here in Tokyo too...I wondered why there wasn't a huge line, but I would find that out soon enough...the huge line was at another attraction....

Well, that will have to do it for the night...I've had my fill of crashes for the evening

Great pictures. We've got more and more organized for our Asia trip this summer and Tokyo DL and Hong Kong DL are both part of the plan. Woo Hoo!
