Mr.Toad is correct. Little kids who made the height requirement who would sit in a row with a "large person" would be SOL and not have anything to keep the kids in the seat(s). Although with the seat belts, there are those idiots who still try and cheat the system, and sometimes get away with it not to mention it is easier to intentionally leave slack in the belts.Mr.ToadWildRider wrote:I really feel it was as much for people unintentionally not having a lap bar down in that if you had someone who had a larger midsection in the same row as others who were significantly smaller they essentially had no "lap bar" but moreso a hold on for dear life bar; though I'm sure people intentionally left themselves several inches of space as well for the added effect.Len90 wrote:ToT is quite comfortable and the seat belts were installed as a safety precaution due to people flying out of the lap bars. If you notice, they make you lift up your hands and then grab the yellow string with your right hand to ensure that you are securely fastened. When there were the lap bars, people would intentionally not pull them down so they can enjoy the free-fall a bit more than intended.

Re: Most comfortable ride seats
I tend to believe both were probably the causes for the change. I guess I am lucky that I have only ridden it after the installation of the seat belts. I would have probably gone flying since I'm pretty thin.

Re: Most comfortable ride seats
Probably. I'm 5'11.5" and weigh 210 lbs. and probably wasn't too much smaller when they had the lap bars and there were a couple of times that I felt unsafe. It was pretty rare for me but it happened more than once and all I could think was "Thank God I'm not some 90 lb 9 year old girl."Len90 wrote:I tend to believe both were probably the causes for the change. As for gaming the seatbelts, I really don't understand why people do stuff like this. When you mess with gravity, gravity wins. I suppose I can understand some people leaving a little extra slack (in full disclosure I do not pull the shoulder rests as tight as they go on RnR but that's more for comfort than added thrill and I don't think I'm slipping out an extra 1/2 inch gap), but the reason the CMs have to ask everyone to hold up their seatbelts is as much to show that the belt is across your lap as opposed to under your rear and the only way that would happen is if you had intended it.

The Tomorrowland Speedway seats are padded a little and very roomy.
No one's gloomy or complaining while the flatware's entertaining.

HAHA!!! Neat topic! I am trying to think of which rides have actually made me fall asleep... Universe of Energy comes to mind as the seats have pretty good leg room and are not very constricting - the dim lights and AC also help to induce a nice REM cycle
On the other hand, have to say that anything with a lap bar would make the "uncomfortable" list - when I was young, flew out of my chair on ToT due to sitting next to adults. Floating was fun, crashing back into seat was not so much

Re: Most comfortable ride seats
I think I actually came off the seat more with the seat belt than the previous lap bar. The first ride I thought it was a fluke so I really snugged the belt down the next time and I still was off the seat several inches.
(I love the "hold on for dear life bar" terminology Mr.Toad!)

I think I would have to agree that TTA has some nice seats. I'll cast a vote for the "Living With the Land" seats as some of the most uncomfortable.

Re: Most comfortable ride seats
The most comfy is a tie between Carousel and SM, Carousel has the room and really padded seat, but SM has that tight but secure feel. Almost like sliding into a sports car bucket seats lol
Nooowwww I'll have to out myself but on ToT before the lap bars were removed I would request the seat belt seat. Granted I'm a larger midsection lol but I would get that seat and purposely give me a little slack. I would even put a penny on my knee and catch it as we dropped hehe now with so many drops and variations I don't do that because I always lose it. Plus I don't want change falling through the floor and yada yada yada. But I will agree with the lap bars it could be dangerous. One time SOME HOW this family decided to sit their small kids next to me. It seems like they tried to sandwich them in lol to keep them from going to far side to side but they could have picked a different row BECAUSE the lap bar was up there and these kids had the bar at about chest high. Probably they were just at the height limit. But I was thinking they better like free falling.
But I def agree also with TTA, you can put your feet up. The worst for me is SSE, I'm 6'3" and my knees don't fit, I try omg do I try but I always end up with an edge of a piece of plastic in my knee cap lol

You might have to ride SSE alone, and then you could sit sort of sideways. How do you find the Haunted Mansion doom buggy seats since you are so tall?
I heard a little girl outside ToT on this last trip asking her Dad "Do you have the penny?" And the Dad saying yes, but "Shhhh!"

I'm tall, and the HM doombuggy has never been a problem. However, I do find the SM rocket seats to be a bit small. If you're long-legged, its tight quarters.

Re: Most comfortable ride seats
I do Amy and still my knees are all up in the way lol single is how I have to go on that. Unless I can lean on the person next to me. lmao that's funny, I bet just like the fountains over the parks there's a treasure chest full of pennies somewhere in ToT. They just collect them and throw them in a big pile.
Me neither Mindflipper, maybe if I try to sit up totally straight my head kinda hits, but when relaxing it's never been an issue. Oh ya it's tight quarters. Getting in and out is an issue lol but once I'm in there I'm as snug as a bug in a rug. It's strange thing about me that I've never been scared of small places, never been a phobia. Except cave scuba diving of course.

Yeah, I'm tall (not quite as tall as yourself) and big. I'm sure I looked a little SNUG in that SM rocket. It's not an uncomfortable seat, but it's a little uncomfortable getting in and out of it!mindflipper wrote:I'm tall, and the HM doombuggy has never been a problem. I bet you could be super uncomfortable in the doom buggy and still not mind since you adore the ride so muchmindflipper wrote:I'm tall, and the HM doombuggy has never been a problem. However, I do find the SM rocket seats to be a bit small. If you're long-legged, its tight quarters.

That sounds like a new thread in the making...which rides are uncomfortable to get into and out ofNaCler wrote:Yeah, I'm tall (not quite as tall as yourself) and big.
