Just because of my design, I probably wouldn't like that too much...I'll stick with the fake PMs thank youmindflipper wrote:I think that was the original intent with the Pumpkin Men (PM). In the first year I remember seeing that had CM's dressed up that way too so you couldn't tell the real PM from the fake PM. That way, you would think they were fake and they could scare you more easily. I don't know if they do that anymore.MmeLeota wrote:Somewhere I saw some pictures of the pumpkin men painting DLP and I remember being amazed at the detail and the realistic characteristics of not only the characters, but the painting too. I actually thought that they were real people at first!mindflipper wrote:I don't know why it was that green either - unless it has to do with Halloween. The Pumpkin Men are always headquartered there, and there's orange all about the place. If they colored the water green for Halloween I could understand. I remember they had one year a great conveyor belt system where they were mining the "orange" that used to paint with right out of BTMRR and it crossed over the RoA.

Oh, all the rides in that section of DCA are in the process of being redone or have already been redone, but I think they may just leave the jellyfish as is because it will be right next to the building for the Little Mermaid ride.
I think the reason the water is that color is partially because they dirty it up like they do here and also the fact that it is not unusual to have every lake, pond, stream, etc freeze over (which is really bad for the ships since they cannot remove them from the water).

Like adding anti-freeze to the radiator (which incidentally is also green)! It makes sense, Wiz. If you look at the pictures, you can tell it was cold by the fact they're wearing hoodies and coats, scarves, gloves, and even hats/headgear. It has been an exceptionally cold winter for Europe and the UK, and it did start early for them it seems too.Wizzard419 wrote:Oh, all the rides in that section of DCA are in the process of being redone or have already been redone, but I think they may just leave the jellyfish as is because it will be right next to the building for the Little Mermaid ride.

Oh, I think it's more of the dye they use (and natural alge and whatnot) rather than antifreeze because it freezes (it might help though because it takes a while for it to ice over.)
Here's a photo someone posted of what it looks like during a cold winter.

I didn't mean they added anti-freeze, just making a comparison the idea was like anti-freeze.
Seeing the pic it makes me wonder why they don't let the RoA freeze over and let people ice-skate on it? It would be like on giant ice rink!

If I remember correctly, during the winter the lagoon (most of the hotels surround it) may freeze over but they still operate one of those ice skating pads off to the side.

I do remember seeing something about a skating rink at the NY-styled DLP resort.Wizzard419 wrote:If I remember correctly, during the winter the lagoon (most of the hotels surround it) may freeze over but they still operate one of those ice skating pads off to the side.

My hotel was just past that so I had to walk by it in the evenings when I was returning to my room. I was too tired from roaming the parks all day to even contemplate skating in the evening thoughmindflipper wrote:I do remember seeing something about a skating rink at the NY-styled DLP resort.Wizzard419 wrote:If I remember correctly, during the winter the lagoon (most of the hotels surround it) may freeze over but they still operate one of those ice skating pads off to the side.

I spent my evening at the Disney Village, enjoying a meal at Annette's Drive-In.

I went when it was considerably more hospitable to southern californians, but a friend from work went in January one year... cue 4 am call to me to complain about how he was frozen solid and wanted to be back here where we don't have snow.

I went one time in May, and the weather was like Florida in December. Luckily, I always take a jacket along whenever I went to Europe. It's an essential to be packed!

I can vouch for late September, early October. It was beautiful there ~ although they had some attractions down for refurbishment
Now, Tokyo Disney in December is another matter all together ~ cold and rainy!! Brrr!

Amy, if you can, try to dig up some of those old photos are post them here on Subsonic. When elizabethswann was contemplating a trip to DLP, I posted some of my photos:

Fun! I hadn't seen those photos of yours before! I just have to figure out how to transfer the files from the PC to my Mac. I'm assuming it can happen through a USB cable? Any thoughts or advice?mindflipper wrote:Amy, if you can, try to dig up some of those old photos are post them here on Subsonic.
