Welcome back Mouskecouple! We've missed ya'll. I've been trying to get trip reports out but it has been difficult trying to wrestle the computer away from my wife as she has school work she needs to do. I personally think our trip and the finished trip report is more important! ;) Hope you guys get over the sickness soon... M-Dude wasn't playing with those honey walls in Pooh, was he???

MmeLeota - Thank you again. I really loved all the shots I was able to get as the sun was setting. I think that's now my favorite time in the parks. And thank you for your patience (or lack thereof) for the rest of the report. :D

Welcome back to the boards Mousekecouple. I eagerly await a small sample of your 3,000 pictures. Sad to hear of the cold, but at least it happened towards the end and did not interfere with any of the fun that you had.

Mayhem! Adventure! Celebrities! Secret Agents! Thrills and chills, and even some disappointments! It's all there!

That's right, folks! The December 2010 Mayhem Marauders' meet-up was all that and more! It was everything we hoped it would be, and the only thing that could have made it better was if the rest of you could have been there!

My apologies for leaving you all hanging this long. As my DW said, we came back a little under the weather, plus we've been super swamped and have over 2,000 pictures to sort and upload before we can put together a decent trip report. But we're working on it, so for now let me set the stage by saying a few things that need to be said:
First: My deepest thanks to all who came and made it a wonderful event. As the sponsors and organizers of the events, we felt a special need to make sure it went well and that everyone enjoyed themselves. As it turns out, we had nothing to fear. We were all just like old friends when we met... the magic of Disney and Subsonic made it happen, along with the wonderful personalities of all involved. :D
Second: my deepest apologies to MadEye. He tried so hard to find us, and there we were all along, just not even knowing he was there. Mouseoholic and I were so disappointed when we didn't hear from him, and assumed that he just couldn't make it after all. We were carrying his MM buttons with us hoping to meet him, but alas, it was not to be. The saddest part is that he had p.m'd me the night before we left, but I didn't even know it. I didn't get it until tonight when I first had a chance to log in here. A moment of silence, please, for poor MadEye and his girlfriend, who just missed us that night.....
Third: there is a story to tell about our good friend Mindflipper. Even though I had never seen him before, I knew instantly that it was him by the huge grin on his face as he approached me in the crowd (he recognized me right away, of course). But it quickly became apparent to me in our subsequent conversations and interactions that he really did not want to be photographed. This fact will become more and more apparent as the trip report goes on, but let's just say for now that one or more of the following statements contain elements of truth about our "Man of Mystery":
1) He is really a famous celebrity who doesn't want anyone to find out his true identity, or...
2) He is a secret agent of a foreign government who will be assassinated by his handlers if they see his picture posted publicly, or...
3) He is in the witness protection program, or...
4) He is just such a sweet, charming, and friendly guy that if his picture were made public he would be mobbed by hordes of lonely women, or...
5) He works for a particular Federal Agency where his identity needs to be kept secret (the agency cannot be named, but let's just say it's connected to the Secret Service...).

Anyway, all that having been said, we can now get started with our take on the events of the big day, as well as the rest of our trip. It may be slow in coming, since I got back to work only to find that my internet access has been drastically reduced (doggone employer actually expects me to work while I'm at work... ).
So stay tuned for more mayhem to come as we can get to it!

LOL!!! I can't believe that! I can't remember who I told this to (Boilerdude? Mousekedude? NaCler?) back on Dec 4th. At DL, if you have someone in a wheelchair, you ride the "stretching room" in reverse back up to ground level. However, MmeLeota, at WDW, they don't do this; you exit the HM with everyone else through the crypt (and most of the time, you board the doombuggy at the same place).

Mousekecouple: Sorry to hear about the colds. :( Get well soon, we look forward to hearing from you both soon! :D

Now we just got to wait for the double-boilers and Amy to check back in.... :?:

Since the MM's are starting to return, I need to go ahead and finish my report so you guys can focus on other sides to the story.

Day 4, December 5th (Technically the LAST day)... I hang out with the ladies ;) ... and DUFFY???

The PLAN:

8am: Head to MK/monorail for breakfast ADR
9:15am: Breakfast @ 1900 Park Fare
10am: Head to EPCOT by monorail (Tron-o-rail?)
10:30am - 4pm: Future World
4:20pm: Dinner @ Via Napoli
5:30pm - 9pm: World Showcase
9:30pm: Illuminations

The REALITY:

Our parents really are smart people. We woke up about 7am and I told Mom what the plans were for the day and she talked sense into me. It went something like this... "WHY are we going all the way to the MK, then around the monorail to the Grand Floridian to eat breakfast, just to take a monorail over to EPCOT, a place that you can see clearly from our 2nd window?" My response, "you know Mom... you're right as usual. Let's do Park Fare another time. Maybe we can stay at the Grand Floridian next year???" Mom's response was, "you TWIT." We ended up eating a pastry at the Yacht Club before we boarded Friendship IV for our now 10 minute travel to EPCOT.

When we got off the boat at the International Gateway, we went into the gift shop and the first thing I see??? Yep, Duffy the Disney Bear. I gave my mom a brief rundown on what exactly he is (basically spawn of Satan) and that she should expect to see him quite a bit while at EPCOT. We headed over to get a FastPass for Soarin' and gave Amy a quick call. She had mentioned that she would be there in the morning without her mom and that she could use someone to ride a couple of rides with. We rode the Land (my FIRST time) and made plans with Amy to meet her afterward at the Universe of Energy. Now the UoE probably wasn't what Amy meant by needing someone to ride things with, but she had already done TT and Mission Space and I knew my mom wasn't going on either one of those. While on the ride I realized that I am getting old. I used to hate almost everything about the ride as I thought it was dull and boring. However, I found myself laughing more than I expected even though I knew most of the script from listening to Subsonic. I love all the cheesy puns during the radio broadcast and Ellen's body language toward Bill Nye is priceless. I have now removed it from my "attractions to take a nap on" list.

After UoE, we met up with F1gment and went over to Club Cool... you know, because our mothers looked thirsty...

I have Amy's reaction to the Beverly and will have it on the other thread shortly. She has mine and I'm sure she will post it when she returns in what... like 3 weeks??? (Still jealous of her staying so long in WDW!)

Next on the agenda was Spaceship Earth as we knew we could all ride that together. I love SSE, even with the updated narration and the lack of Emerald City... and Tomorrow's Child. I still sing it on the descent even though it is gone (sorry if you were recording it Amy!)

After the ride we said our goodbyes to Amy and F1gment as we knew we would not see them again... on THIS trip anyway.

*** I want to pause for a second and mention that meeting Amy and her mother, F1gment, was a pleasure. Mouseoholic was right, F1gment is a doll and is just someone you want to be around. She has raised a wonderful daughter and we were so happy to get to meet them and hang out a little bit. I sincerely hope that we can meet again sometime (maybe next time in DL!). :D

Mom and I stopped at the Art of Animation store near the exit of SSE and traded some vinylmations. We managed to get a couple that my boys would like but nothing for my little girl. I forgot to mention that we were able to get 1 Toy Story vm from the MK the day before! We were able to do Soarin' thanks to the FastPass then we went over to NEMO. After that we decided to check out a "blast from the past"... Captain EO! Man, I still love that show! It may get me ridiculed on this site but I seemed to remember it all and I felt like I was 8 or 9 again for a few minutes. I'm glad they brought it back. But, along the same lines, I hope it doesn't stay long and that whatever replaces it blows me away like that film did when I was 8. We skipped the Imagination ride as I would have been upset to not see the Kodak kiosks offering free "enhanced" photos when you get off the ride.

It was almost 2pm and we were pretty hungry so we decided to go to Egypt and see if we could find any good Mexican food... or a margarita:
Image

On the way over I noticed the Duffy Meet and Greet and thought briefly about stopping and getting my picture taken with him. I figured I could always photo shop a dollar sign logo all over him or something but I was shocked to see three people in line. Unwilling to waste 3 minutes of my life on that bear I decided against it... but I did manage to get this before I left:
Image

Now back in Egypt... I had remembered that the Mousekecouple had an ADR for 1pm at San Angel and I hoped that we might catch them. However, when we checked in I did not see them around anywhere. Of course, it is dark in there and we only waited up front for roughly 30 seconds before we were seated (with no reservation!). Towards the end of the meal we had a couple of visitors... yep, it was the Mouskecouple themselves! We thanked them again for everything they had done in arranging the meet-ups and all the behind-the-scenes work they put into the whole weekend. We said our goodbyes again. :(

*** Another side note... The Mouskecouple are good people. They seem to be the loyal friends that everyone wants to have. I really wish we could have had more time to spend with them as we really clicked like we had been friends for years. I hope I get the chance to meet you again and anytime you guys want to do something like this again, you just say the word and I will do everything I can to be there. If you need anything, just let me know. Thanks AGAIN.

After lunch we walked around towards the American Pavilion and I got a good shot of SSE:
Image

I wanted to see the American Adventure as I have never seen it! But it didn't start for another 45 minutes and we really wanted to enjoy the pool at the Yacht Club (as it comes HIGHLY recommended), so we headed out. I'll get it on my next trip... I seem to be saying that a lot! Also, another sign that I am getting old... I was leaving a park for good at 3pm! That's sad!

We rode on Friendship VIII again and stopped at the concierge desk to see if we could somehow get the Yachtsman Steakhouse for dinner. No ressies to be had but they did get us in for a 5:30 ressie at the Captain's Grille.

Despite the low 50's temp outside we braved the pool anyway... just another stupid thing I got my mother to do on this trip! Needless to say, the spa was wonderful. Mom kept trying to get me to go on the slide but I told her that you spent too much time out of the water walking up to the top of it and that was too cold for me! Plus I saw a couple of crazy adults going down and they were just barely making it off of the slide as it was so slow. I wasn't going to attempt that one! haha...

We got dressed and went to see if the Yachtsman Steakhouse would take us anyway and guess what? Yep, got right in with no wait! I LOVE Disney. We had no problem all weekend getting in places to eat.
I had the Caesar salad which was not bad.
Mom got the Lobster Bisque which was outstanding!
I had the Porterhouse, medium rare (sorry Amy) and it was excellent!
Mom had the fillet, medium and it was... do you really think I would eat ANY of hers since I had a whole Porterhouse to myself??? ... it was excellent as well ;)
No dessert this time and I couldn't talk mom into stopping at Beaches and Cream! :(
I got pictures but they were on my phone so they are too small to post, sorry.

We stayed around the lobby area and went into the gift shop for last minute souvenirs and more attempts to trade vm's. I got the Haunted Mansion clock that I wanted so I was pretty happy. I'll post any vm picks on that thread. We watched Illuminations from our balcony and I'll see if I can get some video of it up soon. We went ahead and packed up for we were leaving in the morning. :(

I took this shot of my treasure in my treasure box:

Image

Yes, there was a rum left! B-dude didn't drink it all. There was an ornament that Amy and F1gment made and gave to the MM's who were there. Donald is a gift from mindflipper. Thank you to all for the great gifts! They were unexpected and SUPER-appreciated! I'm sorry I didn't bring anything except for my good looks and charm! haha...

Day 5, December 6th.... Leaving Home

For some odd reason I woke up about 6:30am (getting old I tell you) and decided to get pictures/video of the sunrise over the Boardwalk from our balcony:

Image

Image

Image

I'll get the video up soon. It's very calming and peaceful...

We left about 9am and stopped in St. Augustine to spend a moment with my sister and brother in law. We arrived in Jacksonville about 1pm and I spent some time with my dad before my flight out. And, of course the flight was delayed... go figure.

That's more than you guys wanted to know, but I hope you enjoyed it all!

A special thank you to the Mousekecouple, the Boilers, Amy and F1gment and mindflipper! I enjoyed the limited time we had together and would do it again anytime!

Again, in the immortal words of Francis Urquhart, "You may very well think that; I couldn't possibly comment."

Good to have you back, Mousekedude! You and Mouseoholic are a great couple, and great friends with whom to visit WDW MK! Whether it's 11 AM or 1 AM that night, Mouseoholic always has the same sweet personality - the long day just doesn't affect her happiness. BTW M-dude, have you dried out from Splash Mtn. yet?  :mickey:

NaCler: Yachtsman Steakhouse - presumably in the Yacht Club resort, right? It has Lobster Bisque?!?   It's a Mindflipper family favorite - may have to find a way to check it out. Do you know if they are open for lunch?

It is in the Yacht Club just before you get to Beaches and Cream and the Beach Club. It has Lobster Bisque for Dinner, but I did not see it on the lunch menu. I wonder if you ask nicely, they may make it for you for lunch, especially since you are famous... err... because of WHO you are I mean. ;)

More great photos and food talk, NaCler. I've never had the lobster bisque at Yachtsman's but I've had it at Hollywood Brown Derby (I think they no longer serve it there), and it was incredible.

So I missed the reason for the "sorry Amy" about your steak. Would she have order it more rare or more well done? H likes his steak almost raw, which is why I'm curious.

Also, did you notice the hidden Mickey in your margarita? Sweet.

Thank you... I had never tried it before so I can't compare it to any others, but I know it was very good.

She's not a steak person, so I was just apologizing for that. :D She likes cows as friends, not food.

That's why I felt that I had to post it. It was nice surprise. Of all the margaritas we had on property, that was the only place that did this.

Ok, now that I've read the rest of NaCler's TR...I love the sunrise pictures over the Boardwalk!!! All of your pics have been just wonderful! (yes, even the "I hugged Duffy" one...  ) Thank you so much for sharing your trip with us! It sounds like you were able to get some quality mom and son time (aside from creating some mayhem ;) ). Hi guys! M-dude is working on the report with pics from the meet up as I write this. Thanks to Nacler and Mindflipper for all of the sweet comments. You both are gems! M-dude and I only wish we had had more time with everyone. Last night I worked on loading our photos and sizing them on Photo Bucket so we would be ready to post them tonight. I realized that we did not have as many pictures as I would have liked of the meet up. My battery ran out in my camera and I did not get any photos of the Dole Whip meet. So sad....=( I think the Boilers will be able to fill the gap. As someone stated earlier, we were having such a good time that I really did not think about taking pictures. But don't be too sad, we did get some great shots of Mindflipper...LOL LOL LOL    :D

There is a reason why everyone who attended bonded as well in person as we have on-line. That's because each and every one in the group is a friendly, fun-loving and very special and unique person. I don't know whether we will be going in 2011 but for sure we will be going in early 2012. Mark it on your calendar!

The highlight of the trip for me was finally conquering EE! I rode it over and over and have the pictures of me screaming my head off to prove it. My favorite souvenir is my fluffy yeti! My only regret is that I did not ride it sooner. But I can't beat myself up too hard because I had to build up to it. I never actually got to do Splash because it was just too cold! I now have an official excuse to go back.

Since Nacler brought up the subject of Duffy I will say that I have a special picture with Duffy but am not willing to post it. I had my mean eyes on and my hands around his neck. It's not pretty. I would prefer to preserve the angelic sweet side of me on this site. On this trip I tried not to give all my hard earned cash to The Mouse. Duffy is just another means to get silly people like me to buy a Duffy and all the accessories for each country. I fell in love with the Duffy sombrero and shirt as well the sailor and German outfit! But I refrained. It was hard so I went out and bought a Vinylmation instead!!!!
Image

Well, anyway, I don't want to jump around too much. So I'll stop here for now and let Mousekedude post something about the meet-up day. Sweetie...?
