I've noticed a couple of people mentioning the Lego store, and I have to add that I really did kinda like it, but the thing that bothers me is the way they make everything in kits nowadays. Back in the dawn of time when I was a kid, Legos just came as a gajillion different little pieces that you had to use your imagination with in order to create anything. I had a friend that had a ton of them, and we would spend hours creating all sorts of interesting things. But now, they all seem to come in kits with pictures and instructions for making specific things. Where is the imagination and creativity? A trained monkey can follow step-by-step instructions....
Anyway, just ignore this old guy venting....

I agree. The creativity of many toys has been replaced with movie tie-in's unfortunately :(

Is this not what the lego wall was invented for, individual pieces in all colours that you throw into a tub to buy and you can make what you want.

Once you have enough kits you can really use you imagination!! They have Lego stuff we never had!!! They have axles, hinges, wheels and all sorts of stuff like that. Unlike when we were kids (Before the wheel) and Lego's were actually made out of stone!! Now you can make stuff move and roll!!

I remember having building logs when I was a kid. I loved to play with them!! Although my dad would get mad when I took apart the house, but they were still fun to play with. They named them after the president after he died!! That was years ago!!

I never knew that was there. I guess I didn't see it because I was transfixed by stunned horror at seeing all the kits.

Back to the Lego discussion, I was just thinking the other day that my two youngest both love Lego but in very different ways. DS treats Lego like a puzzle - put it together and you're done, the more complicated the better. While DD treats Lego the way we used to when we were kids, back before the days of the kits - she creates. And so, I buy different kinds of kits for each of them. Creator for her. Star Wars for him.

Btw, I just saw these great books called "Brickmaster" the other day, all about different ways to put together your Lego. Maybe that's the solution to my puzzle-loving son - more puzzles.

My favorite shop in Downtown Disney is The Art of Disney. They are my favorite stores everywhere.

It's a toss up between World of Disney and The Art of Disney

I love the World of Disney store except that I lost my children there last trip. Once you've lost track of someone, it's almost impossible to find them again - too many nooks and crannies. :?

My favorite store is a toss-up between Tren-D and Goofy's Candy Co.

Art of Disney would be high on the list, if not top. But I do enjoy that little store a few spaces down from the AMC, forget the name but a lot of overpriced arts and crafts lol but all very pretty.

World of Disney is the hands down easy choice for best in Downtown Didney. My son would disagree, and say Lego.
