I second that. It just seems that every time we visit they are sleeping. We come back 2-3 hours later, and they are still sleeping in the exact same spot. We discovered last visit that they move around if it is raining, and the end of the day is a great time to see them. They are about to go to their holding area, and all of the tigers were up and on the move.

I love Asia and Africa, completing the beastly kingdom part would be pretty cool, but another cool idea might be to add austrailia.

Australia would be pretty cool... Wallabys and Kangaroos, Dingos, Kookaburras, Emus, Koalas, Platypuses, Tasmanian Devils, Wombats, Cockatoos... not to mention the rich history of Australia as a penal colony, etc. etc. Seems like there's no reason they shouldn't do an Australian section at Animal Kingdom... doncha think? Why haven't they considered that? Any ideas?

I would guess the biggest consideration for this sort of expansion would be money :(

I would be down for a new thrill ride in Africa or Asia. It would be cool to get off Kilimanjaro safari or everest and get on another thrill like the rock& rollercoaster-tower of terror duo at the studios.

Ding, ding, ding. We have a winner!!! TDO is way too stingy to give the go ahead to make any new lands at any of the parks.

And life's a little weird,
And when we find someone whose
Weirdness is compatible with ours,
We join up with them and fall in
Mutual weirdness and call it Love.”

Not to mention that I think we have determined that AK is the least popular of the 4 parks (from another thread). I don't think they are even willing to consider adding to AK until after:
MK's Fantasyland Forest expansion is finished
EPCOT's Zombie WOL Pavilion and Imagination Pavilions are addressed
DHS atrocity of a Back Lot tour is torn down/re-themed and the Monsters Inc coaster installed
... then maybe they will consider it.

I do like the thought of adding another land to AK and Australia would make sense. What is a good E ticket ride ya'll can think of that would fit into Australia? If Soarin' wasn't in EPCOT I would say they could do a hang-glider type ride. Maybe they create a dark ride that uses a Peter Pan type ride system. Or... Soarin' is extremely popular... why not put a Soarin' ride at AK and have it Soarin' over Australia?

How about an indoor "Cold" area. It would be a favorite place for guest from April to October (As a diversion from the heat outside) and house such animals as Polar bears, penquins and the like...

How about another dive quest type of deal?! I think Disney needs to reclaim their right to the largest salt water tank!

They could have a swim with the Great Whites dive thank!! Theme a area like a small Aussie town with a lot of bars and you could drink you way through it!!! Then go swim with the sharks!!!

I was thinking about Animal Kingdom the other day, and consider this: when the Magic Kingdom opened in 1971, it did not have classics like PoTC, Thunder Mountain, or the entire back half of Tomorrowland, including Space Mountain, CoP, the StarJets/AstroOrbiter, the PeopleMover, and If You Had Wings (which is now Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin). By the time the park celebrated its 12th anniversary in 1983, all that stuff had been added.

Like the MK in 1983, Animal Kingdom also celebrated its 12th anniversary this year. And what new attractions have opened during those 12 years? Well, there's Everest (which is an E-ticket, even though the Yeti doesn't work) Kali River Rapids, which is too short, but good on a hot day, Maharajah Jungle Trek (beautifully themed, but basically a walk-through zoo exhibit) and Chester & Hester's Dino-Rama (which everybody hates). And that's all. Meanwhile, the park's only dark ride, Dinosaur, has had so many effects deactivated (a pure cost-cutting measure, BTW) that it's basically just a loud bouncy ride through the dark with the occasional strobe light flashed in your face.

Animal Kingdom is an unfinished park. And because it's unfinished, TDO can't afford to take down Everest or Dinosaur for maintenance and rehabs because of the serious capacity issues that would cause. Disney obviously doesn't feel that Animal Kingdom is worth spending money on, and until they change their mind I don't see why it's worth it for me to spend my money there, either.
