Actually, the only action Disney can take is to forbid these guests from returning and to turn over all evidentiary matter to the proper authorities to arrest, charge and possibly prosecute the alledged guilty party for his actions. I don't think there is a cultural issue here as much as a "rage" issue. We've heard of postal rage. Then came Road Rage. Then Airline Rage. I think Disney wants to avoid these kind of events at the parks starting a new label - Disney Rage. This hasn't been the only story in the past few years where a guest has beserked out in a fit of uncontrollable rage. Disney already had the problem where one mother attacked another in the Dumbo queue. I think Disney would like these incidents to die quietly instead of getting aired in the press because they might be concerned how future visiting guests would feel about how safe it is for a family to visit a Disney themepark.Len90 wrote:Same here. Re: Disney Guest Caught On Vid Choking Bus Driver
It happened around the middle of October. Not much was said about it after the initial incident. There were fictitious reports that the guest was being charged and banned from Disney property. It would be nice to know how this turned out, but I fear we will never know what actually transpired and what the outcome from all of this was.rphillips14 wrote:Woah, Why am i just now hearing about this! It would be interesting to know if anything ever came out of this incident a few months back...

Re: Disney Guest Caught On Vid Choking Bus Driver
That poor bus driver! And his family along with all the witnesses to the brutality. A very good way to ruin the Disney magic for everyone involved. I've seen some incredably rude people in all the times I have ridden the Disney buses but no one retaliated with violence. Maybe a few unkind words. Just like in everyday life some people think they should always be first, that they are more deserving than everyone else. I have seen a grown man push in front of a woman carrying a sleeping child. Younger people remain seated when an older person is clearly having a difficult time standing while the bus is moving. But I have also seen alot of good people do wonderful selfless things where the busses are concerned. And nothing makes my evening bus ride more fulfilling than to give my seat to an exhausted family with young children or an older person who just looks dog tired. I don't care how tired I am, I'm in the happiest place on earth right? Besides I have to admit I do love riding the buses while standing, so I'm always looking for a good candidate to take my seat

Re: Disney Guest Caught On Vid Choking Bus Driver
I spoke with one of the bus drivers about this incident when we were down there and obviously the feelings are still quite raw. I think he said the bus driver that was involved got a month off with pay.
I try to offer my seat whenever I can but sometimes folks won't accept. And my poor Mom complained on more than one occasion that the kindness I showed others resulted in her getting very up close and personal to dripping nosed children. I must admit, after several times of not even a "thank you", or even a smile, for my having given up my seat, while seeing parents take up multiple seats with bags and strollers, I don't always offer my seat to families. Elderly folks on the other hand, I will always offer, for that is how I was raised.

Re: Disney Guest Caught On Vid Choking Bus Driver
Mousekedittos, Amy. For some reason on this last trip, it was always the young families with little kids who were the most inconsiderate and ungrateful (there were a few polite exceptions, but for the most part it was bad). Once I offered my seat to a young mother with an infant, and not only did she refuse, but she looked at me like I was some kind of pervert just for offering... in other words, she had no clue what a gentleman was and didn't understand my actions. I just don't get it with people these days. Another time this jerk of a father was taking up three seats with a bag on one side of him and a stroller on the other (while older folks were standing), while he let his brat of a son pitch a total fit and throw things during the whole ride. Didn't even try to calm him down. But I did offer my seat a couple times to some elderly folks who were very appreciative. I think what we're seeing these days is the stark contrast between a generation that was raised to respect others vs. a generation that was brainwashed into a total "I'm-special-and-no-one-else-matters" attitude by political correctness run amok in our public schools. There are a few younger ones who were raised right, but overall the younger generation seems to think that they're entitled to anything they want, any time they want it, and no one can tell them anything. There was one incident where we were leaving AK and waiting for a bus to Epcot... this group of high-school age kids were also waiting for the same bus, and their behavior was so revolting to us that we got out of line and caught a bus to the TTC so we could then transfer to Epcot... adding at least 20 minutes to our travel time... just so we wouldn't have to be on the same bus with those little demons. For the record, to anyone else reading this, I'm not some kind of old geezer who hates kids either. I'm only 47, and I have a whole bunch of young friends who are very well behaved, and for whom I have a lot of respect.... and who also respect me. But their kind is getting more and more rare these days.Amy wrote:I spoke with one of the bus drivers about this incident when we were down there and obviously the feelings are still quite raw. I have kids but I have to be sooooo careful about who they hang out with so they don't become like most of the brats out there. So far so good.
My husband and son always give up their seats and I will too for older folks. We teach respect for others, but it is just so rare now.

Re: Disney Guest Caught On Vid Choking Bus Driver
ahh my generation is just... special
But I see it so much that new parents and young parents sometimes just don't get it. I always offer my seat to a older person, especially a elderly woman. I just think of my grandma and have to, I feel horrible if I don't. Of course I always pushed my grandma in a wheelchair so she was always treated good hehe
But I'm getting off topic lol
But one more thing, I can see a lot that may have been influenced by from Ayn Rand and her work. I do like her work but can be misconstrued and over exaggerated. Like the difference between ethical-egoism and rational/psychological-egoism.
But back on topic now hehe
As someone said earlier in the thread, ya I could have seen the guy trying to bypass the line and come up the side of the ropes to try to sneak in and then when the bus driver shut him down he flipped out. I'm glad he got a month paid though, well really that amazing hehe. Being a bus driver can be a dangerous job, with dealing with the public and not behind any safety glass or that type of thing, which I believe would be overkill imho. Luckily at least at the parks that's the exception and not the rule.

I certainly can't imagine being influenced by Ms. Rand's work concerning rational/ psycological egoism enough to put it to use on a bus to the MK. How rediculous is that
Now back to the topic hehe
I haven't been to Disney in a while but I can just imagine the changes in the attitudes of the young families. I teach preschool, and a good percentage of the families are just as you have described. I have been teaching for over 20 yrs and have seen the changes--ME FIRST, I'M MORE IMPORTANT. I'm refering to the parents
