Free Internet access

They really are behind the curve. They advertise their "business centers" in some of the deluxe resorts as though having a business center is soooo cutting edge. Pfffff... business centers being in a hotel are like, sooooo last millenium...... we want free wireless in our rooms!

I would imagine they work as always since iphones all have some form of wireless internet that you pay for.

What I have gathered on tethering so far seems to indicate it is illegal, against the AT&T usage contract, and requires you to "jailbreak" your phone, among other not so secure happy things So I guess I am back to square one and my computer is back to being a really expensive hard drive storage on the trip Not that I am planning to have time to do a lot on the computer anyhow but it would have been nice to check emails every once in a while on a bigger screen than my phone...sigh...

Of course, you're more likely to get "frisked" (read: "intrusively groped") by TSA....

We don't ever use internet while in Disney! We're in Disney! I don't care about the outside world! But, I realize some people may have to for business reasons. I just think Disney should include this as one of their amenities.

You might be reading old suff, Jailbreaking is legal as dictated by the supreme court (much to the dismay of Apple). But if you're worried about it you could always just borrow a friend's personal wifi hub and use their data plan. They are a good investment if you want to be able to use your stuff on the road a lot. You don't even have to stick with your cell service provider.

Check around...I remember seeing a TV ad that someone was offering one of those "pay-as-you-go" plans for a Wi-fi hub - can't remember if it was Verizon or some other provider...

I know Verizon has it (if you want to buy an ipad they give you the plan even cheaper), ATT has it, T Mobile has it, and Sprint has it. The plans are very reasonable (within the confines of the US) and the hubs are tiny. In one case (Verizon) they even sell it with a laptop case so you can always carry it with you.

Last time I was there, in room internet was complimentary for DVC members.

We usually have two rooms so we establish a network in one room with an Airport Express if we have to buy internet. I conveinantly failed to put my Rutgers email account on my new iPhone until after I came back from Disney.

I kept my email account in check with my phone. I don't know how I would have fit time in to be on the internet any other time so I really didn't miss it at all.

Btw... The Yacht Club has free Wi-Fi in the lobby if that helps anyone out in the future.

Wanna hear something funny? On the first part of our latest trip, we were staying at Coronado Springs... a moderate resort... and found that somehow we had access to free wireless internet. Can't explain how... maybe someone had it set up nearby and our computer was able to pick it up.
But when we moved over to the Boardwalk... a deluxe resort... we couldn't get any wireless anywhere! Go figure...

Sometimes people set up free routers in their hotel rooms so they can have multiple connections rather than spending $50 so their family can get all their devices online. A friend of mine always did that when he was at conferences.

Follow the instructions below to log on:
• Click the Wireless icon to open the Wireless Connection Station window.

• Click on the Internet Browser to attain the Terms and Conditions.
• Type in iaccept for both the Username and Password at the bottom of the Terms and Conditions.
• Begin browsing.
