Are you referring to the Tea Cups themselves or the ride? If it is the Cups themselves, they take the Cups to Central Shops behind the Kingdom to do any work on them. Sometimes holding them in the area that is now where The Little Mermaid is being built.

Anyway, what I was referring to is the supposed "new" roof that you can see in the concept art released last year in the announcement of the Expansion. Some people out there deny a new roof is being put up but the fact that they are working on it right now is interesting.
I'm very anxious to know what is going on with this project. From the looks of some pictures that were posted, it appeared to be an intense renovation with the entire roof being torn off to the bare metal structure.

LOL! I remember the days when the Tea Cups didn't have a roof at all!

Yep. Last pictures I've seen were of a new roof but no theming to it yet.

the first day we were there, there were 2 men w/ hard hats (but no tools, so i don't know what their trade is) walking on the roof, so it is intact. as per the later painting, i meant that any ground work would seem unlikely to require a lane blockage like that. the barrier tarps/walls should be enough. i would assume that actual painting on the roof would require this precaution due to possible drift (even spray paint eventually floats down right?).

I've seen photos of Mad Tea Party without a roof (just bare metal) so was the roof pure white or detailed when you saw it?

You said that the paint smell was very strong when you were in the area, maybe they had it blocked off simply for the paint fumes?

boy you're putting me on the spot now. this gives you an idea how useful i'd be in a police investigation. i really tried to ignore, or purposely not look at the overwhelming blemish that is now fantasyland. the couple things i mentioned were items that you could not avoid seeing (like the massive, erect crane in your family's picture of the castle, nice). to the best of my recollection, when the guys were up there, what roof i could see was white. during, and post "paint" smell, i never looked up again. in hind sight perhaps i should have made more effort, or photographed. yet keeping the magic under those conditions required some effort. in the short (and i mean short... they flew by) 10 days we were there, it seemed more important to try and maintain the illusion that this is the same old place i know, nothing's changed. not easy.

Sorry. Not my intention. :P

In the defense of the crane, last time I was there I did notices that you can block out the crane by taking a picture of the castle at a certain angle (straight on and to the right of the castle you can see it).

this is true, and good advice for anyone visiting in the near future. we did this w/ our own photo's (camera). unfortunately photopass is not this creative. we did not get our disc yet, i wonder if they intend to digitally remove the crane since all 3 photographers took the pic head on.

Don't know what they plan on doing with the crane with photopass but if it isn't out of your photos, there are plenty of programs or even photobucket where you can crop your photos so the crane is out of it.

Update: The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh's new queue is open. Opened earlier this week. Looks nice from the pics I've seen.

What did they do to the queue? Just a refurb or a dramatic change?

From what I have heard it's not quite finished yet. Currently they are using the fastpass line as the queue right now. For this week there was no fastpass. Supposedly next week they are going to open the regular queue and it is going to be interactive. Mostly for the kids. Jumping with Tigger among other things is going to be available.

Will there be a queue for those of us traveling without small children who do not wish to be kicked in the shins or have our toes stomped on while the cute little ankle biters are bouncing with tigger?!?! I know that sounds like a ton of fun for kids but it sounds like a nightmare to me

The official Disney Parks blog has this video for the behind the scenes for the new Pooh queue.
