I like Cosmic Ray's. It's the very first place we ever ate at Disneyworld.

i've noticed more than 1 person liking cosmic rays. can any of you tell me why you like it? we've never eaten there, just looks like a standard quick service, is there something different about this place?

It is possibly the cheesy entertainment provided by Sonny Eclipse.nicklesm17 wrote:i've noticed more than 1 person liking cosmic rays. can any of you tell me why you like it? we've never eaten there, just looks like a standard quick service, is there something different about this place?

Boatwrights was a favorite breakfast place of ours until they stopped serving the Sweet Potato Pancakes. Never quite got over that disappointment . . .

He is an audioanimatronic that puts on a "lounge" show...here is a video clip I found http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid ... 0511812804#nicklesm17 wrote:i'm not familiar w/ sonny eclipse what or who is it and what do they do?
He looks a little different than I remember from when we were last there, but it is kind of fun to have some entertainment while you eat!

Re: favorite restaurant in the "World"
thanks amy. believe it or not, i've never been in there. although we were almost forced to on this recent visit. in all the years i've been going to disney, i guess i've never "quick service" dined late. except at our own resort. i was unaware that the majority of 'em (at magic kingdom anyway) all stop serving before 8pm. when i asked a cast member "well what is still open?" they told me "cosmic rays". we opted to go back to our resort and get a pizza instead. i've been judging this place by their seemingly generic menu, but as we know, not all of our dining choices are based on the qaulity of the food or diversity of the menu when we dine at disney. next trip i'll definitely make time for this "new" experience. thanks again.Amy wrote:He is an audioanimatronic that puts on a "lounge" show...here is a video clip I found http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid ... 0511812804#

Cosmic Rays is a good place to eat but ordering is so inconvenient. It has 3 sides, 1 for burgers, 1 for chicken and 1 for sandwiches/soups (I think, it's has been awhile since I have been there, so please correct me) and you have to order what you are in line for. So, if you want a burger and your kids want chicken, then you are going to have to wait in two separate lines. The lines are always pretty long as well, from what I can remember.

Ugh, that does sound inconvenient. I suppose you can't really have your DD stand in the line by herself for what she wants...although....maybe people would let her cut to the front of the line since she is so darned cuteNaCler wrote:Cosmic Rays is a good place to eat but ordering is so inconvenient. Thank you Amy... Normally at the counter service places I have my DW take the two youngest to grab a table while I stand in line with the oldest. Cosmic Ray's just takes too long to get everything.
nicklesm17 - Was Pecos Bill's still open? That's a great place for "fast" food.

my wife mentioned the same thing about the different ordering stations, this was another reason we never ended up eating there. although in her brief trip inside she said she never noticed this animatronic, just how large it was, and the inconvenience of the multiple order areas.NaCler wrote:nicklesm17 - Was Pecos Bill's still open? as per pecos, we did eat there this trip. they have a nice hot, and fresh, condiment bar. unfortunately, no, they were also one of the pre-8pm closers. according to the cast member, cosmic rays is the only place "quick" that stays open past 8. when they saw my dismay, as an alternative they offered up going to the ice cream shop on main street. we just really had a taste for pizza that night, and even though the door was not yet locked at the pinocchio village haus, when i walked in i could see they were cleaning up. i asked if they were still serving (7:50pm) and the lady sweeping the floor said no. i said thank you, and let myself out.

Always have to go to Pecos Bills. There is a specific room that I love that is usually somewhat less busy. I love the decor, it has a pretty staircase with really beautiful tiles, and lots of flowers.
I also love Harbour House, Pinoccio's Festhaus, Sunshine Food Fair @ Epcot, and The Backlot at the Studios. The latter having very interesting decor! These are the places I just have to visit once per visit.

We tried twice to eat at Harbour House but there were never any tables. My Mom was unable to climb any stairs this trip and that was the only table they had available the one time we were there. The other time we stopped there were no tables at all!Sharonofwindham wrote:Always have to go to Pecos Bills. There is a specific room that I love that is usually somewhat less busy. I actually have a new favorite restaurant at wdw - Cape May Cafe for dinner. They now have crab legs and they are gooood so I basically make a meal of them but there's other stuff on the buffet too.
Past favorites have been Ohana, Boma, Tusker House, Artist Point
