And they know that the CMs are instructed to bend over backward, lest they get canned. So they take advantage. It's wrong. I wish the CMs would add the word "no" to their vocabulary. There's nothing wrong with it.
On Soarin' (in California not sure about elsewhere) and when they had it for Toy Story Mania they have no problems breaking up groups. I wonder if the WDW ones are just more willing to let it go?

I'd like to think that company policy would be consistent everywhere, but you never know. I guarantee you one thing though: if enough of us complained about it to Guest Relations, they will address it. The squeaky wheel gets the grease, especially when the squeaks are in support of the rules.

When talking to the CMs use a very bad foreign accent and say the word game instead of ride. No matter what (Single rider line, front of the car line, or just cutting in front of people in line) always say and repeat after me, "FOR THE CHILDREN" (remember the worst the accent the better)! Even if you don't have any kids with you. Trust me the CMs "LOVE" this and will let you have your way!!

Did I say TRUST ME??

I'm sure the written company policy is uniform but teaching/enforcement may vary.

Yeah, that's always the way it goes. The rules are the same... the enforcement is in the eye of the beholder.

I wish WDW had put a single rider line in when they revamped Space Mountain. Talk about making my life easier had they done so...

There are a lot of attractions that would benefit from a single rider line, and all you have to do is ask CM's about it and they are happy to share. Unfortunately the huge groups that used the single rider lines and then said, party of 2, 3 or 10, ruined for those who really were single riders :(

I've always found in WDW they were pretty good about enforcing the single rider rule. One time I wasn't even in the single rider line and I was by myself, I tried to make a request and they said no. I think it was the middle of long shift for her.

The only time I think they dropped the ball on single rider lines was rocket rods. If you wanted to use it you had to wait in the main line until you got to the main entry (which could take an hour depending on the day) before they would issue you a pass.

What I never understood was that if the Rocket Rodz was as hated as much as people posted on-line, how come it always had a long line?

I think people actually liked the ride, it was the fact that it was always breaking down that they hated...
