Have to agree on Flame Tree BBQ. Awesome food, great close-to-nature ambience, quiet and serene, good background music..... you just have to watch out for marauding birds. Saw one guy set his plate down and turn around to get a napkin, and in a space of 5 seconds a bird swooped in, grabbed an onion ring off his plate, and took off... while his wife sat there in shock, stuttering and pointing.....
It was hilarious, though I felt sorry for them.

I don't have a MUST DO sit down--I like to mix it up, but I do have some MUST DO snacks, etc:
-Dole Whip, of course--drooling just thinking about it
-Corn Dog Nuggets from Casey's--usually have about 3-4 of these per trip. They have GOT to be so bad for you, but oh well.
-Spaten Beer in Germany. I know I could get these at home, but there's just something about having a cold Spaten looking over the water as the crowd bustles by.

166 days until I get all three (but not at once :) ) !!

I don't think I have ever had the corn dog nuggets from Casey's...are they the same as the ones you can get over in Tomorrowland? You say that you won't have them all at once but actually I'm thinking all three of your must-do snacks would make a fine meal...corn dog nuggets washed down with a cold Spaten, followed by a Dole Whip for dessert :D
But...You might get tired of commuting between the MK to EPCOT and MK again to gather the meal ingredients

I don't know if they are the same--I never had the ones in TL. They would have to be wouldn't they?
Hmmmmmm I think I have a must do for next time!
:P
And yes, I would be wore out going back and forth :) but it does sound delicious!

I just love eating at Columbia Harbor House in the MK for lunch, something about the atmosphere. I like being able to escape the crowds and eat upstairs. The Whispering Canyon Cafe is fun at the Wilderness Lodge. I'm a vegetarian and WDW is very accomodating. While staying at the AKL, after visiting the Mara quick service and finding a very slim selection for a vegetarian, I asked a cashier if she could suggest something. She went to the kitchen and the chef at the Mara in AKL actually came out to greet us and made some suggestions as to what he could make for us (my daughter and me). He made each of us a veggie wrap that was big enough for two. it was delicious! And he served it with a smile. I love Disney, only there can you have your own personal chef. :mickey:

I agree with you there. One night we were at the California Grill for the "Sweetheart Dinner", and the chef came out and offered us a special shrimp dish he had whipped up just for us! It wasn't even on the menu, and they didn't charge us for it. It was just something he felt like doing for us as an extra perk. Totally awesome! :D

I have to eat my first Magic Kingdom food at Columbia Harbor House. I love the lighthouse sandwich, yummy! My other must have TS would be Sanaa.

Quick question for the group... Yachtsman Steakhouse or BOMA??? I haven't tried either one. If you have tried one of them, please let me know how you liked it and if you would do it again.

I agree--Harbour House is usually my first and last meal during each vacation to WDW. I still miss the old shrimp and fish basket they used to have with hush puppies. Anyone remember the Boston Cream Pie they used to offer for dessert? As a kid I thought that was so exotic LOL.

I also must have a frozen banana and a meal at Pecos Bills.

For me, there's Liberty Tree Tavern at MK and - before its departure - Alfredo's in Italy at EPCOT. At DLR, I can't pass up a chance to go to the Blue Bayou.

I haven't been to the Yachtsman...but I have been to Boma. Boma was awesome and the food was very good. It's kind of like African versions of food you may have had in the past. So a lot of it is familiar...but unique. The desserts are all amazing and it's all-you-can-eat which takes the pressure off of what to eat. The downside to Boma is that it can get loud as it is one of the best places to take kids or if you have a big family or group with you. So keep that in mind as I assume the Yachtsman is probably the exact opposite in those regards. Both are in resorts that are gorgeous...so you have the added benefits there as well.

No matter what you will end up with an amazing meal.

Yachtsman yes, no idea what BOMA is/stands for. Though to be fair, when I went I had been up since 5 AM and traveling and had about 8 vodkas running through me, and a cocktail at the bar next door, and at dinner, and wine, and a cup of coffee (Unlike Hitler I don't always have everything planned in advance). So the food might have been terrible but they kept the alcohol going so I tip better. :D

Depends on the type of meal and atmosphere you're looking for. Boma does offer a variety of delicious unique items, but being a buffet, it also has a lot of "buffet" type stuff and the atmosphere is what you would expect from that type of service. The Yachtsman on the other hand is going to give you a better quality steak or seafood dinner in a quieter, sit-down atmosphere. Plus, you can order "ambience" there that you can't get at Boma. So again, the type of experience you're looking for is what should help you decide.
One other thing: the Yachtsman is going to cost more, naturally.
I like 'em both. I especially like Boma for breakfast....

Thanks for the replies... It turns out now that it doesn't matter anyway as mom has already tried BOMA for dinner and she didn't care for it and I didn't like the timing of our Yachtsman ressie. So, we scrapped both and now have an ADR for Brown Derby. How's that for not being able to make up our minds??? haha...

Oh, I've always wanted to try the Brown Derby. You will have to tell us how the food was once you eat there!
