Looks worse on video, but when you're riding it, it seems so lame...NaCler wrote:Man, that can really make you queasy! It's nice to see things progressing quickly.kcarts wrote:Here's another youtube video from Jeff Lange.....

Re: Fantasyland Expansion...
We're headed there for a 5 day trip on Sunday - its a bummer that there's so much construction in MK going on right now, but I can't wait to see it all completed.
So no word on the new vision since they're lightening up the princess attractions?

I've not heard any - makes me wonder if they're still working out what the new direction will be (but then again, construction is going on, so they don't have much time to change their minds)....
Re: Fantasyland Expansion...
They have plenty of time. Only thing they are really working on right now are the Little Mermaid attraction and the Beauty and the Beast area. The Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty meet and greets have been canned. So there is a big swath of land they are going to use whenever they figure out what the heck they want to do with it. Crappy part about that is once TLM and BatB areas are done, there will more than likely be a huge construction area in front of those areas.mindflipper wrote:I've not heard any - makes me wonder if they're still working out what the new direction will be (but then again, construction is going on, so they don't have much time to change their minds)....

Yeah but if I have the locations in mind off the top of my head, then the foundation looks to have been poured for the area in front of BatB. The vertical construction is progressing very well for these.MadEye wrote:They have plenty of time. If you look at the history of Disney construction - compared to that of the rest of the business world - it moves quite fast! They don't waste time when building!

That's because it's not your tax dollars paying for it...if it were...this would be a 10 year project.mindflipper wrote:If you look at the history of Disney construction - compared to that of the rest of the business world - it moves quite fast! They don't waste time when building!

Yeah and the sooner it opens, the sooner they can start recouping their losses and earning money off of it!theBIGyowski wrote:That's because it's not your tax dollars paying for it...if it were...this would be a 10 year project.mindflipper wrote:If you look at the history of Disney construction - compared to that of the rest of the business world - it moves quite fast! Re: Fantasyland Expansion...
If you are referring to that concrete slab in front of the construction, that was already there before any of the Fantasyland Expansion construction started because that is where Scuttle's Landing and Ariel's Grotto used to be. Right now, all they are working on is BatB and TLM.Len90 wrote:Yeah but if I have the locations in mind off the top of my head, then the foundation looks to have been poured for the area in front of BatB. Re: Fantasyland Expansion...
It's not really a loss, Len90, because the construction costs are capitalized into an asset and are not expensed to the income statement. It's more like "recover their investment in capital assets".

Re: Fantasyland Expansion...
You guys lost me at income statement!
Anyway, I'm looking forward to hearing their new plans for the other areas.

Re: Fantasyland Expansion...
Do they also get to take an amortization on the old stuff and a capital improvement deduction on the new stuff, plus a loss on the whole area being down? Do they also get to take a tax credit on the over all investment?mindflipper wrote:It's not really a loss, Len90, because the construction costs are capitalized into an asset and are not expensed to the income statement. Re: Fantasyland Expansion...
More great pics on the expansion... and even though it crosses threads, the report is that the tombstones are gone from The Haunted Mansion... for now. What could they be doing???
