dining reservations alert

Post by nicklesm17 » Oct Sun 24, 2010 11:41 am

just thought i'd give this quick mention. i know alot of you are about to go to wdw just as i am. you may or may not be aware that disney has been "fixing" their reservations system on and off for the past 2 weeks. as i'm leaving for disney on wednesday, i thought i'd better check to make sure my reservations are ok during all this fixing. le cellier (you may remember how happy i was when i scored this one) and 50's prime time cafe mysteriously disappeared, but the rest are all intact. terrified, i first tried using their retrieval system (fortunately i had written these res. #'s and info down)... no dice. i then called one of their dining reps. the missing reservations are there, whoo. she said the system is still glitched, and they're still working on it. so, if you check, and this happens to you, don't get too mad or too panicked. i would suggest doing what i intend to do upon arrival. see your concierge desk, and get each reservation printed out (on those individual receipt sized pieces of paper they give you). this way you're covered and have a hard copy in case any further fixing accidentally fixes you right out of your long awaited dining experience.

Wow, I'll alert Mousoholic right away! We have a ton of ADR's that we're really looking forward to, not least of which is our Mayhem Marauders dinner for 10 at 'Ohana! Imagine the h**l that would break loose if that one disappeared!! (shudder...)
Thanks for the heads-up!

Great tip on getting the concierge to print out your ADRs for you. I do that every time I go down to WDW...if for no other reason than to have the ADR numbers on me when I am in the parks. This was especially important on my last trip because I had reservations under two different names due to half of them being done by a travel agent and the other half by me. Once we got down there all of them were tied to the same room and all that...but having the print outs were great for peace of mind.

Found out the scoop on this: it's only the online reservations system that is being upgraded, and that's where some of your ADR's may seem to have "disappeared." But they are still in Disney's system, and if you were to call in person they can confirm for you that your ADR is still there. The online system should be back up to speed soon.... in fact it may already be fixed by the time I post this. :D
Nothing to see here, folks... false alarm....

Are the concierge's only in the moderate and deluxe resorts though?

We've only ever stayed at moderates and deluxes, no values, so I'm not sure. But I would imagine they have some kind of customer service desk at the value resorts where someone could fix you up. Anyone...?

This seems to be the right place to ask, aren't phone reservations all done through a normal phone number not a toll-free line? I remember seeing some resturants not accepting online reservations (call only) and that seems kind of an annoyance that you would have to call in, espeically if you have to use a landline.

There is a number specifically for dining reservations, but some places still need to be called directly. Can't remember specifically which ones at the moment... but I think one example that comes to mind is T-Rex because it is not actually owned by Disney.

Can you make online ADRs for the restaurants that require a credit card? Those might be the ones that require you to call in.

The ones where you need leave a credit card are the ones I was talking about actually. I wonder if they had a lot of people booking and not showing up/scalping the reservations (can it be done?) or if they took it as a precaution?

You are "ALWAYS" giving Disney a way out or an excuse!! I ask again, what part of Corporate Disney are you from??
