If this had been a case of domestic violence, no mater what the wife said someone would have gone to jail. In this state a wife's pleas don't just make it go away! I think DUDE hit the nail on the head!! It's the fear factor when it comes to Muslims!! I think he should have been treated just like any other jerk in this country and they should have stuck his butt in jail!! I have no problem with immigrants, Lord knows I'm only 2 generation American, but if you want to come here, you have to be come American!!! I don't care if in "MY" country we're allowed to kill for our honor!! This is now your country!! You don't like it, the are flights back to "YOUR" country every hour of every day.

I didn't read the article, but Jacca, I feel this way too! We have election mudslinging going on so badly right now and finger-pointing about illegal immigrants and what-not. I have no problem with anyone coming here to start their life over or whatever their story is. But 1) do it legally and 2) respect the fact that you are now living in a new country, so don't expect everyone to cater to you. You have to learn the ways of your new country.

If I ever visit a foreign country (let alone move to one), I would never expect anyone to speak english, nor would I expect there to be any of my favorite chain restaurants available, nor would I expect to have everything handed to me just because I am not originally from that country. I would respect those around me and do my best to fit into their culture...especially if I had moved to that country.

(Please know that I am not finger-pointing to any particular person or group...just anyone in general who plans to move to America or any country for that matter)

For something to have "happened" to this guy, the driver would have to press charges. He was the one assaulted. He is the one that needs to press charges.

I agree. The driver would have to press charges. But IMHO, I think Disney is trying to keep this on the down low after the Hijab media frenzy. Disney wouldn't want to be viewed as a company who is intolerant of other cultures regardless of the situation. (It's a Small World after all )

My niece called my a racist for my point of view. The only point I was making to her was, Nobody made an effort to speak Italian to our grandparents. They had to learn English to function in this country and within one generation we were American. My mother wouldn't let us say we were Italian American. We were Americans that had Italian ancestry. Don't get me wrong, I treat my Italian traditions with reverence. I am VERY proud to be able to say "I"M FULL BLOODED ITALIAN"! But first and foremost "I'M AMERICAN"!!!

However, it's already all over the news. It was the lead story here the morning after. The headlines I saw all read to the effect of "guest attacks Disney bus driver". Everyone can see in the video that woman was wearing a burka. Which by the way are worn not just by Muslim women.

So I'm not sure how the argument that it would be bad press for Disney if charges were filed holds water. Everyone seems to be on Disney's side. If anything they are coming off as soft and enabling this type of behavior from other guests.

But I could be wrong.....

They wouldn't be a company intolerant of other cultures. They would be a company intolerant of violent behavior toward their employees.

This was posted on the Walt Disney Forum. I have not confirmed. If any Atlas readers can substantiate or verify, I would be much obliged.

I work for bus operations and the entire incident was caught on the security cameras.Every load zone has a high def camera that sees the bus and load zone. We can actually zoom in with the cameras and read the drivers name and his hometown on his name tag on their uniform. Also in the video one of the gentleman on the bus,{I wont identify him} was one of our plain clothes security officers and was in the load zone at the time and witnessed the attack. Security was called along with the OCSO,and yes it took them a few minutes to get to him. This was because the bus was in load zone C7 which is in the charter bus lot and away from the regular Resort load zones near the entrance to Hollywood Studios. If you watch the video closely you will see flashing red and blue lights illuminating the side off the bus.When the wife saw them pull up the wife took off,and tried to hide in the crowd,and left her child with the husband. Other guests identified her to security. They were then removed from the bus and load zone and taken backstage. The gentleman was then arrested and handcuffed for assault on the driver. He is also facing charges for Terrorist threat due to the assault happening on the bus, and public endangerment. They were also ejected from the resort they were staying at,and trespassed from Walt Disney World property.They will not be returning to the Happiest Place on Earth ever again. Also everyone will be happy to hear the driver was not reprimanded for the incident,and continued with his job that evening. I actually saw and talked to him last night and he is doing fine.
Also forgot to add copy of the security tape was provided to the OCSO,they are in turn forwarding it to the state attorney for possible further charges of Felony child neglect and endangerment.

As for the terrorism charge, the poster respomded to others on the forum asking why a terrorism charge. He explained in a subsequent post:
Our buses are Federal DOT Regulated just like Airplanes and Trains. It carries the same charge as if you attacked a flight crew on an airplane in flight!!! It may not stick but he was still charged with it.

I suppose the "culturally intolerant" statement wasn't exactly what I should have said to try and prove my point.

Don't sell yourself short! You make some great points. It's tough to get your ideas across the way you want them to in a forum like this. I don't how many times my thoughts have been misinterpreted here. You can't tell tone of voice, inflection, gestures, the look on a face...... those help get a point a across better than the actual words.

I'm not quite sure where Disney came into play here as they are not the dispensers of justice. They can pressure individuals but in the end they cannot outright stop anything.

an interesting post if it's true, but if it is, you'd think the media would be aware of it by now. not asking the same question's we all are. as i stated in an earlier post, there is little doubt that a bus driver fearing for his job is going to do exactly what disney tells him, including not pressing charges to spare them from another "muslim" issue and possibly being sued for that issue. if anyone sees media verification of this arrest and charge, please link it here.
