Renting out my Disney Vacation Club

Post by bobbafett » Oct Sun 17, 2010 12:50 pm

If anyone is interested in renting points please send me an email to bobbafett@comcast.net.
I have rented out before and have rented myself.
Basically, if you don’t know how Disney Vacation Club works, I get an allotment of points every year to use how I want.
Depending on where and when you stay, the points per night could be around 8. I rent out at $10 a point. So staying at AKL in Jambo House
In a value studio. Meaning a kitchenette, it would cost 73 point staying Oct 23 to 30. A total of $730 dollars! And includes Magical Express.
Please send me any questions you have and Ill get back to you as soon as possible.
I will check this forum from time to time but an email would be faster for me, and private for you.

Wow! This sounds like a great deal for someone to stay at a very nice place for a reasonable amount :D

Some buddies and I rented points a few years ago when we ran the Half Marathon. It saved us money and allowed us to use Magical Express and the Dining Plan.

Yup, I have done it a few times. Really is an easy process.

Yeah, we really like the fact that DVC members can rent out their points. We do that quite a bit, actually, with my DW's aunt who is a DVC member. We've used her points on several trips in the last few years. This year we didn't get to use her points because she said that nothing was available on the dates we wanted to go, so we just booked on our own. Sure wish I had seen this thread about 4 months ago... we might've rented your points!

Talked with my friend's sister yesterday at the big Thanksgiving dinner. They are staying at Bonnet Creek condos during their upcoming stay. Has anyone stayed there? She said it wasn't a Disney resort but I guess there is a bus just for their condos. All I know about Bonnet Creek is there is a golf course there.

Can someone explain to me how that works to buy someone's DVC points?!

I was just reading about this yesterday in Mousejunkies! by Bill Burke. A good FAQ about this can be found at http://www.dvcrequest.com/faq.htm.

Ah so it is one of those things where disney doesn't care about it but it's still "use at your own risk" sort of things.

Speaking of that ~ my friend's sister was telling me a bit about their vacation coming up in a few weeks. She bought the adults' tickets online and her childrens' tickets off ebay! I am a little worried that they will be able to use the kids tickets since she was telling me she bought them from someone who had bought them but couldn't use them. I would be worried about whether they were valid. She said she saved about $30 on the 3 tickets but that wouldn't be enough to ease my mind about whether they were good tickets or not!

It's just like any ticket (or 3rd party sales) broker, make sure they are reputible and make sure that you have some recourse if it goes south, such as refunds or knowing where their family lives. :D

Renting points is not the same as selling points. When you rent you use someone's points who will not be going to use them that year. Selling means you are offloading the remaining points and duration that you have left on the lease.

I'd say that's just semantics since either way you're trying to off-set the cost of the time-share membership.
