Mousekedude wrote:Loving your report so far, Big! The pics of POR and AKL are especially nice.... POR is special to us because it's the first (and second) resort we've ever stayed at, and on our upcoming trip in December we'll be doing a split stay there and at the Boardwalk, so that will make three stays at POR. And AKL is our favorite resort for the theming... we've stayed there three times too.
The quality of your pics is outstanding! What camera body and lenses are you using?
Aside from the fact that DW and I would love to stay in a deluxe resort at some point...we really want to come back to POR to stay again just because of its charm and simplicity.

Funny thing about the camera...it was my HTC Incredible phone. It does really well with taking pictures and video. I used DW's old point and shoot camera for a little bit, but then realized I could just use the camera on my phone and it would be so much faster and easier since I had it in my pocket.

Wow! That's quite an endorsement for the HTC phone!

I know the current iphone was promoting it's camera capabilities. Maybe when Len90 is not too busy with classes he can share some of his iphone experience (although I think he prefers a digitial SLR camera)....

DW and I will go get a good DSLR once we have kids. I have a decent camera at home, but it's almost 10 years old and is too bulky to justify carrying it around...especially since it is not a SLR or DSLR.

I am hoping to add more of the trip sometime today!

I think the iphone 4 still only has a 5 mp camera. I was out drooling over the pretty DSLR cameras yesterday and noticed some of the little tiny "cheap" (like $100) cameras are up to 14 mp!

I agree, the new HTC phones take good pics. I was pleasantly surprised when I got my new phone! They do well in a pinch.

What sort of megapixel count do they have? And I thought you ended up with an iphone?!

Day 4: (9/1/2010)

DW and I woke up a little slower this morning knowing that we wanted to start our day at DTD and it wouldn't be open until 9:30...so no rush there. If I remember correctly we decided to take the bus since the boat wouldn't be running until 10:30.

Downtown Disney

Our main reason for going to DTD was to get some Christmas ornaments. It's something my family did when I was growing up and a tradition DW and I would like to continue for our own family. While there we got some good ideas on how to decorate the house...

We also got a special ornament to commemorate our WDW Honeymoon. We chose the ornament that looks like a Mickey Mouse Club hat and had someone there put "Our Honeymoon 2010" on it. It looks great and I don't have any pictures of it right now but will once we put a tree up in a few months.

Next we went to World of Disney to do a little bit of shopping for friends and family. My main objective was getting the "Por Favor" shirt as I figured this would be the best place to find it. Unfortunately they didn't have any...and when they checked the database realized that no store on WDW property had any either...because they were all sold out. The CM working there was very nice though and gave me the phone number to call and order from the warehouse...which I did when I got home. Got my shirt now...so it all worked out. We bought a few picture frames while we were there and had everything shipped to our resort.

We went back to the bus stop to head to our park for the day...

Day 4 (Cont.)

Epcot

This was our second day going to Epcot, so we knew we could move at a much slower pace and just enjoy our time there. Our first day there was dedicated mostly to Future World...so this time we would be spending a lot more time in World Showcase.

We had ADRs in Mexico to eat at San Angel Inn. For some reason my family has had a tradition of always eating there in Mexico on all of our trips...so DW and I decided to follow suit. DW was blown away by how cool it looked inside of Mexico and how you really do feel like you are outside...at night...in a Mexican village. I asked the CM if we could get a table by the water since it was our honeymoon...and we were seated at a nice spot by the water within 2 minutes. We normally don't drink margaritas because the calories are astronomically high...but this was a special occasion. So DW got the premium lime margarita and I had the blood orange one. Both were very, very, very good...
Image
Both of our meals were great and thanks to the free dining plan...we didn't have to worry about the price. :D We finished our lovely and romantic meal and rode Gran Fiesta Tour.

Going clockwise...we headed to Norway. We walked through the Stave Church and then over to ride Maelstrom. One of my favorite WDW quotes is from the beginning of Maelstrom. "You are not the first to pass this way...nor shall you be the last." I tried to make DW nervous about going over the falls when we were floating backwards...but it didn't phase her. Maybe she was still mellow from the margarita earlier. After going through the shops there we headed to China. Didn't spend a whole lot of time here but we did take a good stroll through the beautiful area outside and saw the miniature army inside. Next we hopped over to Germany. We spent most of our time in the shops in Germany looking all of the beautiful German things. We contemplated getting me a stein because I have always wanted one...but decided against it and will just get that on another trip. We did however find some German wine that we haven't been able to find at home in a long time. So we bought a few bottles of that and had it shipped to the front of the park to pick up later.

Next we strolled over to Italy. Ahh...one of my favorite places in all of WDW...Italy. The architecture is stunning and the entertainment hilarious. We knew we wanted to come back later at some point to eat at Via Napoli because pizza is one of my favorite foods in the entire world. I am a lover of all pizzas really...and do not discriminate bases on how thick or thin it is...or what part of the country it originated from. We'll get to that later though. Here is a picture of me in front of the new restaurant...
Image
DW and I really want to go to Italy someday and maybe we will for an anniversary...but for now the one in WS does just fine!

Moving along...we made our way to The American Adventure. A little bit of background on me. I LOVE anything that has to do with American History as well as anything that has to do with science or space. So...it's easy to see why I love Epcot so much and why The American Adventure is so dear to my heart. DW thinks I am a nerd for loving The History Channel...but I don't mind. We walked into the main hall and were greeted by the Voices of Liberty. I have chills remembering how beautiful their singing was. The atmosphere from the floor to the paintings on the walls to the music in the air...all of it was breathtaking.

Next we headed into the theater and I was giddy with excitement. I was almost brought to tears. I think that show is one of the finest displays of music, animatronics, and everything that Disney Imagineering has ever come up with. Of course DW was fast asleep during the entire thing because it contained 1) history...2) cold, dark theater...3) she was next to me. So she got a good nap and I got a good jolt of American Spirit!

More of Day 4 and World Showcase coming soon...

Your DW can join the growing list of people who like to nap in the American Adventure
Plus you forgot the margarita on the list of "why" she fell asleep

At least you had patriotic spirit and stayed awake! I guess you were the "designated conscious person"...

I like your attitude about pizza... it's hard to screw up pizza as far as I'm concerned!

When pizza is good...it's good.

When pizza is bad...it's still pretty good.
