I want Donald, Mickey and Goofey medals :mickey: And I wan't a coast to coast and a princess half and all of the rest of the Disney medals......

I have just done a half marathon in Windsor (Berkshire England).
It is in a park, it does have a castle, this year it also had a Princess.
The medal is kind of OK (It's not a Disney medal).
The Magic just isn't there :)

Me and Windsor Castle

Princess Beartric (2hrs 16 mins very respectable time your highness  )

That is AWESOME Joe90 and so is your time!!! I'm very impressed! How was the weather there?! My fastest half was 2:05:04 :) I was happy with it!

You're right, the bling is not Disney but any bling is always good to add to your collection! Thanks so much for sharing!!!

My family and I just recently did the 8mile race around Mackinac Island MI. The race was awesome, Mackinac Island is a different type of Disney World for me, the scenery was beautiful and they did a nice job on the bling, I must say! Again, not Disney, but I'm happy to add it to my collection!

The weather for the race was around the mid 60s with a little wind and some occassional light drizzel. Pretty near perfect for me. The course is very hilly so isn't all that good for a PB, it is just a nice place to run around.
2:05:04 is faster than I managed around the Windsor course last year  (2:07:35) and I was happy with that run.

I did a quick Google images/Earth search of Mackinac Island, it looks like a pretty special place. Is there 8 miles of road to run around or do you need to do laps?

Get training for the Donald/Mickey/Goofy boilerbabe :) you know you want to. :mickey:

If you managed a 2:07:35 with hills, that's impressive!!! I'm very effected by weather and the course. Mackinac is fantastic! The entire perimeter of the island is 8 miles, no back tracking. They have a 1/2 marathon (that I would practically kill to run) coming up at the end of Oct. It takes you through the center of the island, which can get VERY hilly! I would love that challenge though! If you ever have the chance to run Mackinac, you should do it! It's an amazing experience. My dad and I both agreed that Mackinac was the second coolest race we've ever done, first of course, was the Disney 1/2!

I would LOVE to do another Disney 1/2, but Jan. is the worst time for me to request vacation. I work in the fitness field and that is our busiest time of year. One day, I will be back there again though, I need another "quacker"! :D

What's your next race? Are you running Disney in 2011? If you posted that earlier on here and I missed it, forgive me!

Heat is my main problem when running. When it gets warm I slow right down. Give me rain and cold temps any day :)
Mackinac 1/2 eh. Noted. I am kind of, sort of, perhaps half looking at the Philly Rock and Roll half....or maybe the Philly full...
I don't like the look of any of the British Marathons

My next race should be the Goofy challenge......however, although I have booked time of work and payed the deposit on the trip (Payed the full race entry fees, non refundable  ) My work is muttering about sending me somewhere else at that time. Typical.

I hope you can manage to get here for the Goofy challenge! Can you try to sell your race entry if you can't make it or are the fees non-transferable? :(

I hear ya with the heat Joe90! Heat and humidity are my cryptonite! I'm a cold weather runner! Lucky for me we live in NW Indiana!

Hope you can make the Goofy Challenge! That a pretty hefty race fee to cough up! Good luck to you!

I am registered for the half marathon. This will be my first. I have run half marathon distances before but never in an actual race. I couldn't think of a better place to try my first. My wife and I will arrive at WDW on Thurs 6th in time for the pasta buffet dinner at EC and will are staying through Tues 11th. Hopefully that will give me a little time before and after the race to enjoy the parks.

How exciting!!!! Good luck to you! I can tell you, running a 1/2 marathon in a race is an entirely different ball game! And running in Disney, well, there's nothing like it! I think you'll find the miles will pass pretty quickly, at least they did for us! :D ENJOY! Would love to hear about it when you get back!

All fees are non-transferable and non-refundable :( If I have to go away for my work I loose the lot.

Hope to see you there cccmouse :) The best advice I have been given is to remember it's a Disney experience.
The run is all about the experience not about the racing  Think of it as more of a 13.1 mile fun run :) don't worry about your time, take lots of pictures. Practice running with your camera!
If this is your first run with lots of other runners you will probably find either you are being held up by other runners, or you are holding others up, :) or both. That's normal throughout the field don't worry about it. Be careful at water stops, not everyone goes for water some people don't actually stop but jog through drinking as they go, others stop dead. It can be chaos.

Thanks Bbabe and Joe90. I am excited about the whole event. I'm just glad that Orlando saw its "once in a century" weather last year during the marathon weekend. I would have a hard time getting out of bed at 3:30 am to go run 13 miles if the weatherman was calling for rain, sleet and snow.

The press gave her a rough time when she was photographed in her swimsuit.
This was part of the flab fight.

I, of course, don't need to loose any weight
