Ok anyway, the reason for the non-immediate posting was that I had to go to my neighbor for this one.

He distills his own spirits and this one (whiskey) is about 8 years old. He lets me use his equipment so I've got a cask of "brandy" (it's aged in a cognac barrel I brought back from a trip to France last year), whiskey, near bourbon (same technique and cask just not in the county), and rum (using my sugar cane). :D

I did not know you could make a still out of a plastic bucket. I forgot the term for the one I use, but the guy is really into home distilation so he bought a "professional" one. I've tried making kirsch here but the local cherries just don't have enough flavor to make a good product.

You should try Michigan cherries. We have a lot of different varieties so I'm sure you could find some that would make tasty liquor. And isn't Washington known for their cherries as well?

Yes they are (they actually make most of the ones sold here out of the washington state grown ones). The only problem is there is no local source that I can get good cherries from and getting them shipped would probably make the product cost more than the high quality stuff I can buy (since it isn't aged).

That is not a normal color. I think I would have skipped that mystery item!

Almost all of the stuff defined as "mexican sweet bread" is the same dough/flavor, it's just in different shapes. So hypno bread tastes just like brain bread.

Ah... so hypno-bread is a form of Mexican sweet bread.... okay, now I know what it tastes like.
Never cared much for Mexican sweet bread. Bland and dry, mostly.

As for the dry factor, that is normal since you're supposed to have coffee or tea with it (the mexican version of the lady finger I guess). For the blandness, you should find a better bakery. :D

Tonight we are serving Kurobuta pork with a green peppercorn sauce, green beans with mushrooms (the french beans didn't look good), and baked shells and cheese (mix of chedder and gruyere.
