Anything below 70 is cold, below 60 is winter and below 50 is frozen wasteland.

Ha ha! Pretty much!   Welcome to the desert!

We don't have humidity, but we have wind...and it cuts right through ya. Every year, I see people in shorts and T-shirts thinking that because it's in the 50s it will be a nice day and yet they're freezing because of the wind. The inevitable 'I thought this was a desert!' follows shortly after. Just because it's a desert doesn't mean there's no winter!

I know what y'all mean. I came to Texas after 2 winters in Montana, on the Canadian border. We're talking sub-zero temperatures... and I was in construction, working outside in it! I arrived in Houston on a "cold" November day (it was in the high 40's), and I was walking around in shorts and a t-shirt while all these people in parkas and gloves were looking at me like I was crazy. It was hilarious. But now that I've been here for 27 years, I'm not as resistant to the cold as I used to be, although I still enjoy it.

I just remembered I need to go to Chicago next year during December... so yeah I am going to be frozen in a block of ice most likely.

Bummer... but hey, the Boilers live near there, so maybe you could get them to come and chip off the ice.

You're actually very lucky! Chicago is beautifully decorated for the holidays :D Remember to bring a sweater though ~ it can be a tad bit chilly

Sadly I don't think I would be seated at a nice resturant if I showed up in a ski suit.

And I found the perfect shoes to complete your fur lined ensemble. At the Puma store this weekend I saw a pair of shoes that had fur on them

Russian imperial style, not pimp. Though probably close to Samuel L. Jackson in "The Spirit".

I wonder if they even sell overcoats here? I remember I had a beast of a time trying to buy an umbrella in June because my old travel umbrella didn't look like it would last the trip.

You really have to try to make the meet-up in December. You are painting quite the eclectic picture
If you can't find a coat there, there is a whole world of shopping on-line ;)

If I can make it (right now things are pointing to busy) I wouldn't need those. :D
