meijer disney gift cards

Post by nicklesm17 » Sep Sun 12, 2010 2:17 pm

for anyone w/ a meijer store in their area. from now until september 18th if you buy a disney gift card at meijer's, you get $5 off your next meijer's purchase. they come in $25 cards, there's no limit to how many cards you can purchase. there is a limit to how many cards are available at each meijer store. my wife bought 6 cards ($150) for our upcoming trip to wdw (in oct.). you can use 'em anywhere disney, even the cruise lines, for anything. as we charge everything to our room at pofq, we'll use the 6 cards along with other cards we've received throughout the last year to help soften the blow when it's time to check out. so, she received a voucher for $30 off her next purchase at meijer. not bad, the lady behind her was buying $600.00 worth (24 cards, a $120.00 shopping credit). i wish this small window could have been open when it was time to pay our reservation balance, talk about scoring the deal. anyway, don't wait to long if you want to get in on this.

Good to know nicklesm17...we do have a few Meijer stores around us but they aren't very convenient to get to. The few times I do go there for something I always feel bad about not being able to use any of the coupons that print off when you check out since I don't go there frequently enough. Might be worth checking this out though...
I looked online since that would be worth ordering them that way but they don't seem to be available online :(

ya amy, you have to go to the customer sevice counter (although they may do it at the register). they only sell them in the $25 cards, so depending on how many you purchase, you could end up w/ quite a stack. then, it's as you said, they print one receipt for every card you buy, redeemable for $5 off your next purchase... no limit. we don't shop at meijer's that much either, but a deal like this equates to free money. let's face it, at the end of your stay at wdw, you're going to spend more than 200 bucks. if you have to spend it anyway, why not get a week or two (depending on how many cards you buy) of free groceries to add to the enjoyment of your wdw trip?

bonus note: you must do each ($25) gift card seperately! or else you will only get one $5.00 credit! my wife just brought this to my attention, as well as the fact that these "catalinas" (the hip name for this kind of deal?) should also be redeemable, all though not available, at dominicks. she says she purchased our's at the self serve check-out.

I looked in the ad and it did indicate that only one coupon would print per transaction. Plus the Meijer coupons will expire 2 weeks after the purchase so make sure you use those up :D Otherwise you are losing your benefit, although you will still have the Disney gift card.

this is true. after reading the fine print, these individual $5 off's are only redeemable at meijers, not dominicks as is the norm. this is not a problem for us. you amy, since you said it is a bit of a drive, my wife offers this suggestion. go there, walk directly to the purchasing counter and buy as many individual $25 gift cards as you'd like... 1st thing. then go shopping. in this way you can purchase them and use them up all in one trip, as they are immediately (no waiting time, like tomorrow or something) able to be used.

Yeah, if I have time this week, that is most likely what I will do. Although they generally give you a dirty look when you break up your purchases so you can use more than one coupon

amy, use the self check out. 1st, there is a kiosk full of restaurant cards, gift cards, etc. walk up to that, grab as many cards as $25 increments you are going to buy. example, 200 bucks, grab 8 cards. this is important, because when you use the self checkout, with each card you scan you will have to enter the amount you want to put on the card. if you say $200 on one card, you're only going to get one single $5 voucher. so, $25, close out and pay for the order. do this each time w/ all 8 cards. kinda slow, yes, but 40 bucks is 40 bucks. even if it takes you more than 5 minutes to do all your cards, when was the last time you made $40 in less than 10 minutes? my wife just told the 1st lady behind her, "this may take awhile" she said "thanks" and moved on to the next self check out. the next lady behind her was doing the same thing. no one mad, or dirty looking, everything great. if you have checkers who are put out to do their job, this is the best way to go.

Thanks for the tip! Those self-checkout lanes are a real sanity saver for me...

Our Meijer was wiped out of the $25 cards the first day of the promo. I have been doing it with the $50 cards to pay off my balance of $800 on our trip with Disney. 10% isnt as good as 20% on the $25 cards but its better than nothing.

i was unaware they had pre-stated amount cards. my wife said she had to select how much for each card she bought. you're right though, i sure wish they had this deal when i was paying the balance of our trip. even at 10%, that's money going out the door anyway, may as well get something for it. perhaps check w/ the service desk to see if it will be re-stocked in time? somehow, i doubt they'll do a rain check on this one... especially in increments.

I never even heard of Meijer store before! Baloo told me she thinks they are mostly in the upper Mid West. We don't have them in the South!

That is correct ~ you aren't missing much. It is like a fancier version of Walmart. Everyone raves about the great produce there but I haven't had much luck with their produce :(

better hurry, this deal is over on saturday, and as you probably saw from some of the other posts, the cards available may be running out, or have pre-set dollar amounts on them. read through everybody's previous posts here to get a full working knowledge of what you'll need to do. between everybody, i think just about all possible scenarios have been covered. so it's worth your 5 minutes to re-review these posts. my wife's gonna try to score a few more tomorrow too. good luck!
