I predict it will be much more "thrilling" ride then test track. Test Track is slow to even a mild adrenaline junky.

Re: Does Test Track Need Some Refurbishment?
Well I made sure to take lots of mental notes while on TT this year. I noticed a few things about it that really made my ears and eyes perk up. They STILL have the Pontiac in the queue even though a Pontiac vehicle has not been produced for almost a year already and will never be produced. They have updated the screens in the queue area to flat panels. However, they still have the CRT's in the pre-show rooms. I actually talked to the man standing next to me during the pre show video who had been on the ride numerous times before. He shared the same views with me on the video. It needs to be updated very soon. A simple video update would improve the quality of the attraction since seeing mid 90's cars being tested does not make you feel like you are in a present day scenario. I noticed that the cones you run over during the first braking test were not present. The truck triggers slightly too late to deliver the same effect it used to

Yes, add World of Motion as a precursor. It would follow the same theme and add a little nostalgia.

I was on test track just last week, and I have to admit, it was in the best condition I've seen it in a long time. The narrations sounded great. The video screens in the vehicles were working, and all the tv screens throughout the ride were both working and looked great. I'm sure it was just a few touch ups, but it felt like they finally gave some care to this popular attraction

Be careful what you wish for. The last thing they need is yet another Pixar "inspired" pavilion in Future World in my opinion. Heck, the last thing they need is ANY more Disney-fication of EPCOT in my opinion and I realize that doesn't sound like it makes much sense but I'm sure there are folks here who will appreciate what I mean.

I get what you are saying and I do appreciate it! I miss the original EPCOT, and I know that progress is part of what EPCOT was meant to be about but it is lacking some of it's original luster...Mr.ToadWildRider wrote:Be careful what you wish for. That's what my feelings were when I walked off of the attraction in early July.leblanan wrote:I was on test track just last week, and I have to admit, it was in the best condition I've seen it in a long time. I say bring back World of Motion!! Off to watch an old video and relive the magic. It's fun to be free...

I was down there many moons ago (January) and they were closing it down for a quick refurb. Most likely to do maintenance on the cars.

Re: Does Test Track Need Some Refurbishment?
Theres no doubt there needs to be some touch up work done. The only thing that actually changes is the end show room with cars everyone wishes they could afford. As for the inside, there isnt much you can do with the actual ride itself. maybe change a few of the scenery and thats all. Would like to see world of motion make a comeback

Re: Does Test Track Need Some Refurbishment?
I wonder how long it will be before they are going to replace or reboot the attraction? It's coming close to the age that World of Motion was when it was finally removed. I'm guessing no plans are in the works since GM isn't keen on ponying up the cash to make any changes.
One curiosity I have, are the cars that are "parked" in the target lot on the loop functioning cars or are they just empty shells? (they are all GM cars)

Re: Does Test Track Need Some Refurbishment?
The cars get regular maintenance on a monthly basis. They were replacing some bus-bars on the track.kcarts wrote:I was down there many moons ago (January) and they were closing it down for a quick refurb. Most likely to do maintenance on the cars.
It need a lot of work done during a lengthy rehab or a gutting. But a gutting and replacement won't happen for a very long time.

Real, functioning vehicles donated by GM for the attraction.Wizzard419 wrote:One curiosity I have, are the cars that are "parked" in the target lot on the loop functioning cars or are they just empty shells? (they are all GM cars)

Re: Does Test Track Need Some Refurbishment?
I remember the first time riding it that it seemed odd to park there, and in such a perfect formation. Then realized they were only for show. Though it seems rather silly to use functioning cars since they are just going to sit there.
