Epcot's Le Cellier May Become Signature

When we dine at Narcoossee's we tend to take our time, so I know it's always taken over an hour. Just my opinion, but it would seem to be a shame to only par take in the appetizers at Narcoossee's. The food is fantastic! But, if it means you don't go at all, then do the appetizer/wine thing and you should be able to make it back to the park for Wishes. They start at 9, correct?!

Yeah I think Wishes stars at 9. The main reason we wouldn't eat a full-blown meal at Narcoossee's is that DF is a light eater and we would end up spending more than we want...because we certainly aren't going to spend a total of 4 TS credits there when we could use them at multiple other places. I figure we could have some wine and an appetizer for around $35-$40 and it would be just about right. We could show up at 6:30 and hope to be seated a little early as well...giving us more time to get back to MK for the fireworks.

Interesting update...

It looks like the MK is open until 10:00 PM the day we will be there...and the Touring Plan I created says Wishes will be at 10:00 PM. So...we might have plenty of time to relax and enjoy ourselves at Narcoossee's if we have ADRs for 6:55 PM. We could spend an hour and a half to two hours there and still be back at the MK a good 30 minutes before fireworks. Awesome!

I just realized my ADRs are for 8/31 and not 8/30...so the whole thing is a wash. We will be in AK that day and have ADRs for Boma that night. Now I remember why we ditched Narcoossee's altogether...because Boma is supposed to be very good and only costs 1 TS credit per person.

boma is very good, esp. the soups, but for sure their real claim to fame is their dessert bar. they are small gourmet portions, but very possibly the best in all wdw. so make sure you leave room because i would be amazed if you didn't make a 2nd trip after your 1st dessert plate... everyone does. i would also recommend stepping outside their doors downstairs and seeing the animals at twilight, something you can't do at animal kingdom. just take the nature trail past the pool and jacuzzi. typically there are interns from africa out there to tell you about the animals you'll see as well as to answer your questions.

good question, the standard table service restaurant is across the hall... and i believe it's a signature, 2 credits unlike boma's 1 credit (a heck of a value for 1 credit). that said, i assume they would have access to the same dessert, for dessert price only. then again, it seems to me most buffets (here in illinois anyway) mention a pack-a plate or single portion price, so wouldn't boma? i think if you're going during the dining promotion, you'd be better off adding it (dining) to your package and really getting some bang for your buck at this place. man, they got this one chocolate ball that is so good, but it's infused w/ some kind of liquor. so be careful... too many and you'll be buzzin'. just spread it around, there's no shortage a really unique and delicious desserts to choose from. i'm getting excited about october's trip just thinking about it!

Now I'm not sure, but from what I've gathered from other folks talking about Boma, I think it's a buffet. Can any Boma experts chime in?
(but I do know we'll be going there on our next trip!)

This statement is closer describing Jiko, the gourmet restaurant of the two. Unless the desserts you speak of come off the buffet?

Hmm, we probably aren't doing the dining plan, and I'm not a buffet fan so I suppose I will have to take a raincheck on these lovely sounding desserts...maybe next trip.

Boma is a buffet...but from what I have read and heard it is one of the best overall dining options at WDW. It's not your standard buffet that most people are used to...probably because it specializes in African cuisine. I have heard nothing but good things about Boma and The Unofficial Guide ranks it near the top.

I've only been to Boma for breakfast (and I've gone twice). I think the dessert that most people rave about is the Zebra Dome. I've never had one because they don't serve them for breakfast but i've seen them and they're about the size of a York Pepermint Patty in diameter but almost an inch tall. Maybe that's what was meant by "Gourmet size" ? They serve them for special occasions at breakfast i.e. birthdays as the alternative to cake I guess but they wouldn't give me one for asking

As far as Boma is concerned foodwise I think it's a buffet at all times and I know they offer a variety of African dishes in all of their service. I'm not sure about dinner but they certainly offer more traditional buffet staples at the breakfast buffet (i.e. cinnamon rolls, toast, ham, bacon, etc.) in addition to the African dishes. If you go for breakfast I would avoid the "Typical African Breakfast Food" though (literally what it's called on the card) unless you like grits (I guess, never had em but some guy had some and said "Taste like grits to me")- it was just a bunch of runny, almost starchy tasting goop.

yes, the place i was refering to across the hall is called jiko, and i don't know if they serve any of the desserts or not. i was speculating they may, since the restaurants proximities are so close, i thought they may share some of the kitchen duties, worth a shot anyway. and yes, boma is all buffet and only buffet. i 've never done them for breakfast, so i can't comment there. i will say that after the first time we ever tried them, we have gone there for one dinner every trip since. current reservation: nov. 2nd 5:50pm (wahoo!). and a final yes, i do believe the most famous (infamous?) dessert is called a zebra. don't remember if that's the one they inject w/ the liquor or not. i do remember that that particular one (zebra) makes it on the plate for both trips to the dessert section.

Agreed...yum!!!

It sounds like tiramisu...but with an African spin on it.
