Amy wrote:Seeing as how this is a "best steak" thread, I have to share an experience from my weekend trip. Meeting friends in a Chicago 'burb, and having left after work, my friends and I ventured out for dinner a little on the late side...Eyes more or less open, I selected the Filet Foccacia sandwich; a filet, served on foccacia, melted provolone, aieoli (on the side please).
It came to the table, the au jus slopped over the side of the bowl accompanying my sandwich ~ :? ~ what the heck I think?! I look at the sandwich and at the waitress..."Ummm, Miss? What kind of fish is this?" She turns to me and says, "Oh honey, did you think that was a fish sandwich?! You are the third person this week to make that mistake!" A quick check of the menu showed that there really was no mention of beef anywhere accompanying this sandwich, so I could suggest that you read the menu carefully, but it really doesn't matter!....... The kicker is...I don't really eat beef :(
...anyhow, the side salad was delicious...and my Chicago Disney-ite friends might now be checking out Subsonic in the future to hear a little of the "World's" best music :D
Where did you dine in Chicago Amy?!?!

Well, the filet "incident" was simply at an Outback Steakhouse. The other restaurants we hit were Burnt Toast for brekkie (quite yummy and reasonable), and Old Chicago (which was attached to a hotel) and pretty good ~ they had a special that all alcoholic drinks were $3 so I took advantage of that opportunity to try a chocolatini ~ Mmmmm!

Although not a "steak restaurant" the Oak-Grilled Filet Mignon - with Macaroni & Cheese and Red Wine Sauce served at Jiko is insanely good.

Don't let the mac and cheese throw you, it's "real" mac and cheese.

Weeeeeeeellll, if it sounds like a moo, and walks like a moo, and is served at a steakhouse, I have decided in the future to assume a filet is a moo :( But I still won't eat it

After 53 plus trips........ and MANY steaks. Yachtsman wins for us. I'd say it compares with Ruths Chris in flavor and quality. - Oh yum... now I am wanting to plan my next trip's Steak outing. :)

Is it just as expensive as Ruth's Chris or is it actually cheaper?! ;)

That is the million dollar (or should I say the fifty dollar) question!

With my family, Le Cellier has become an important part of every trip. We have tried the others but always keep coming back to Le Cellier.

I'll second that! Especially when you combine it with the orgasmically-delicious flatbreads they have there! Ooooooooh, yeah!! Of course, I can't disagree with all the love that Le Cellier is getting here, either. Both places have their awesome parts.

I'll third it!!!

And when we find someone whose
Weirdness is compatible with ours,

Mutual weirdness and call it Love.”

Hopefully a stop at Beaches & Cream... Brown Derby, Kona cafe, Ohana, 1900 Park Fare, Via Napoli. Unless things change... again.
