Thanks

I wasn't able to find any kind of specials for families who are separated during deployment and that kind of surprises me. You would think Disney + DoD would have some special packages for families during that difficult time.

There may be, just unadvertised ones. Have you called WDW?

I was thinking, and this might be crazy, but I know that all Westin, W and Sheraton hotels allow dogs. I wonder if this is the case for the Swan/Dolphin? That would be interesting to know.
And if you could keep pets there, that would draw a lot of people in as well. I bet they don't allow pets though since they are catering more to the business clientele
Yeah, its probably just wishful thinking. Its just interesting b/c the Starwood brand is very dog friendly.

I was under the impression that everything involving SoG was done through the military and not necessarily through Disney.

Main problem is that the fiance's parents aren't all that keen on theme parks (yeah I know) because her step-dad gets sever motion sickness and her mom isn't the go-getter type. So...us getting them to take us to WDW would be a stretch to begin with. I think a good WDW trip would cure anyone's problems...but then again I am a WDW Nut!

Yeah, you could talk up the parades and shows and restaurants. Plus it is a nice place to spend some time together as a family. You have lots of time while waiting on queue to talk ;)

Yeah...that is my big thing...as much as I love the rides...it is the parades, fireworks, restaurants, and overall theming that makes WDW so amazing. You can go on rides at Six Flags and Busch Gardens...but only WDW and DLR can give you the "Disney Experience".

Which goes back to the original post...and why I prefer to stay in a Disney Resort. When I wake up from my dream...I want to walk outside and still be "dreaming". :D

Well, I was thinking more along the lines of shopping/restaurants but quality time in the queues works too! :)

So if you're staying in the park, which is your favorate resort? Occasionally we'll spend an extra day just at the hotel to break up the park visits. This is when it's nice to have the "Disney Experience" go 24-7. I like the DAK Lodge's private safari, and night vision viewing, but they don't allow ballons and straws in the resort since they are choking hazards for the animals. This is a big downer for my kids. We always have to buy our Mickey ballons on the last day as we leave the park.
I hear that Wilderness Lodge has lots of activities, but I've never stayed there.

My all time favorite is Yacht Club and Wilderness Lodge comes in second for me. I do want to give the Beach a second chance though.

We try to stay at different resorts each trip, at different resort levels as well (often 2 different resorts each trip as well). So far, favs are:

Value - Pop
Moderate - POFQ
Deluxe/DVC - Beach Club for DW and I, AKL for DS and DD
Can't get back to WDW soon enought, but alas, no immediate plans...

Part of me wishes the fiance and I would have scheduled at least one night in the Contemporary just so we could get the royal treatment when we are there for the honeymoon. We just didn't want to go through the trouble of packing and moving to another resort during the honeymoon. Maybe we can try it out on a return trip!

That might have been nice but it just seems like you would waste so much time moving from one room/resort to another that it probably isn't worth it unless you are spending 3 or 4 days in each place.
