I agree mr. toad it's really weird they don't have any classic disney animated films. I think the pixar stuff sells things in the parks though, they always have lots of gift shop space
Re: Disney's Art of Animation Resort
Yay! It was such a sad sight on our last visit. I hope that it does include suites.

Disney said " with more family suites then ever before" so I bet there is going to be a ton.stinoi wrote:Yay! It was such a sad sight on our last visit. I hope that it does include suites.

I was at WDW for my Bday on July 1 and I can confirm there is definatly something going on near POP! Century....although I did not notice any signs saying anything "official"

Right now is the zombie clearing and exorcism part of the process. Expect the tractors next week.

It's definitely going to take awhile to get all the zombies that have accumulated in there over the years...NaCler wrote:Right now is the zombie clearing and exorcism part of the process. Expect the tractors next week.
Hopefully the eerie creepy feeling will disappear soon also!

Just be happy that it is in central Florida and not NJ. Otherwise they would have to hold construction so they can dig up a few bodies
I have heard that "work" of some sorts has begun. Should be interesting to see what goes on.

Re: Disney's Art of Animation Resort
I agree that CARS was mediocre at best, and wouldn't be on my top Disney list either. I wonder however if it was one of their top merchandising successes (big seller of toys, clothes, etc.). Everyone knows that the bottom line on the income statement is the biggest driver. Little Mermaid and Finding Nemo were very successful merchandising lines. I can't help but feel that is more the driving force of what is getting selected as the "classic" animation films for the resort.Mr.ToadWildRider wrote:I'm sorry, but Art of Animation is going to have a CARS building??? Seriously? Not Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Snow White, Cinderella, Fantasia...I don't know any classic or modern classic basically...but CARS???? It was an okay movie but I still don't really think Pixar first off when I think Disney Art of Animation, but even still of the Pixar choices....CARS?!?!? And they're going to have a Nemo AND Little Mermaid Building? That seems like doubling up a little bit to me.
EDIT: I totally missed Polynesian Princess' post above- right on!

New concept art on this thing...

Definitely fits in with the other Value Resorts. I'm SURE my family will have to check this one out down the road. Does anyone know if they have started work on this yet or is it back-burner during the FL Expansion?

Re: Disney's Art of Animation Resort
I was talking this over with one of my Disney Friends and I started to come to the conclusion that this is very similar to the All Star Movies. It almost feels like Disney is repeating a same/similar theme. I am not very fond of all the movie choices. They really could have done something to show the coming of age. Start with a classic, move up through the decades, include one of the greats from the early-mid 90's, and conclude with a Pixar project.

Re: Disney's Art of Animation Resort
Pop Century is our favorite resort and we get so sad to look across the lake and see nothing but empty shells of buildings. Not anymore and we are sooo excited and cannot wait until they are finished!

Re: Disney's Art of Animation Resort
We didn't make a stop there when we were there two weeks ago, but we did drive by a few times. It definitely looked like they were working hard on it. From what I could tell (zipping by from the main road), it looked like they were working on getting the buildings built. I didn't see any signs of the decorating/painting phase yet.
Can't wait to take my twin boys on their first trip to Walt Disney World! Planning on heading there sometime Feb-May 2014!

Re: Disney's Art of Animation Resort
Just got back from WDW 2 days ago and we stayed at POP Century. ... The work on the Animation buildings in comming along rapidly... they are still bare buildings but many buildings are complete from a structure standpoint... I'm sure there is alot to do inside on them and I saw no theming as of yet.

The first wing will open in May 2012, the Nemo part. I'm actually interested in getting on the opening team so I'm watching for food/beverage or merchandise opportunities to open here. Several of us CMs who are good friends want to transfer over together.
