Has Anybody Been in Late April/Early May?
My wife and I have been throwing around the idea of another WDW trip since our Christmas vacation early last December. One thing that she disliked about the December trip was that she equates Disney World with warm weather, and while we had a few pretty nice days, overall it was a little chillier than we anticipated. So I've begun the preliminary planning for our next trip, and came across the following:

It seems to show that late April/early May would be a decent time to go, crowd-wise, while also being able to take advantage of better resort prices. I think we would aim to get there in the middle of the first week of May, since Easter is April 24th, and I'd assume the parks would be pretty crowded for the entire week afterwards. Has anybody been during the times we're looking at, and how were the crowds and weather?
Thanks!

Weather is beautiful, crowds are low. All in all very enjoyable time of year! You won't find much humidity during that time as well, and easier to get into your favorite restaurants!

I would think the weather would be pretty nice that time of year. I would suggest trying topoke around on the internet to see when the Brazilian Tour Groups might be traveling...other than that, as long as you are traveling in early May you should avoid most of Spring Break traffic.

We have been twice in early/mid May. Our trip in '07 was the best EVER! The weather was out of this world, it was the Flower and Garden Show, the crowds were light and we accomplished alot on that vacation! It was also the Minnie Marathon we went down there for. So, I would recommend May! The humidity was low as well. But, warm enough to where if you wanted to enjoy the pool, you could do that as well.
Our trip in May '09, totally different story, but that was very unusual. It was when FL. had their 100 year rains! Our trip was a complete wash out, very upsetting. We had gone for my mom's 60th birthday. We still had happy moments but what a disappointment. Like I said, that was an unusual case.
Overall, I would say May is a great time to go to WDW! We'd go again at that time if it worked out for us. Hope your trip planning works out...keep us posted!

We've been several times for Mother's Day and the parks were empty.

April is one of Florida's best months, with lots of those days that make you say "I wish the weather could be like this all year!" Which is really something, because right now we're smack in the middle of that long stretch of the year that makes you wonder what people from up north are smoking when they say that Florida has "nice" weather.
May can be something of a crapshoot. Generally the weather is pretty nice, but as you get closer to the end of the month it starts to really heat up and you get those wonderful afternoon downpours that make you think "Man, the Weather Channel must be really mad at us!" (Perhaps you think the Weather Channel does not control the weather, but consider this: the Hurricane Season takes place during the summer, when most TV shows are in reruns and networks are struggling for ratings. Coincidence?)

The first time I ever went to WDW, it was the end of April/ beginning of May. From what I remember the crowds were not bad and the weather was nice...of course this was nearly 20 years ago so I'm not sure it can be judged properly.
We're hoping to make a trip out there next year as well. We were originally looking around May, but that might change. Who knows?

Anytime is a great time in Walt Disney World... except for the 1st week of July where there are record crowds, rain every day and 100 degrees with humidity. I must be crazy, leaving in 12 hours from Miami for my WDW vacation! Geeeeze! But seriously, April and May is fantastic, you'll love it, it's our favorite time of year here in the Tropics.

Good luck! Isn't August truly the worst month for weather in Florida? I hope y'all have a great time...take lots of pictures with those 3 cameras! We're looking forward to a photo-loaded trip report when you return and wring yourself out from the rain and humiditycousininmiami wrote:Anytime is a great time in Walt Disney World... except for the 1st week of July where there are record crowds, rain every day and 100 degrees with humidity. Yes, April after Spring Break through the first week or so of May is nice, then it starts getting hotter and more humid each week.
No one's gloomy or complaining while the flatware's entertaining.

We cruise and go to the parks commonly in that season, aside from early November its my favorite time of year in Disney. When we go in may we have found ourselves in the minority in the group of European people on holiday. It's fun to talk to all of the people who live so far away, and live so different but so similar at the same time.
Re: Has Anybody Been in Late April/Early May?
Our honeymoon was in late April/early May. The weather was lovely and the crowds weren't bad. However, if you wait much longer into May, you'll start encountering families starting their summer vacations. I know that our kids are out of school by mid-May. On one mid-May trip in '06, we discovered there were a lot more people than we had anticipated, and after talking to many families on the buses, we discovered that all of their kids were out of school too. So, if you want to avoid crowds, be aware of when school may be letting out for the summer.
