Haha! Awesome report, icky. I'm not at all surprised to hear how well-mannered the group as a whole essentially was. I was (accidentally) at Bat's Day '04 and remember much the same attitude of the crowd.

That's awesome. I want to go, but I doubt any of my friends would want to tag along with me. I don't know how an event like that couldn't be exciting. They had their own theme music? Wow. I want Disneyland to acknowledge my presence with a theme song, k thanks. Thanks for the report and can't wait to see the pictures.

Ummm...not exactly - if you read closer, I was implying that it was LIKE they had their own theme music, just at that moment - which, of course, I realized was just an incredible coincidence.

Oh okay. I gotcha. For some reason I read that and thought the music from the Mickey trying to climb mountain changed to Mickey trying to climb mountain trying to get attention from Bats. But I still want a theme song.

Awesome pictures of the Bats gathering at the hub. I really want to go next year as part of that. How did they organize that many people for the group photo in front of the castle? Seems like a photo op nightmare. Oh and I love that one villian umbrella.

please don't

Post by LaughinPlace » Sep Sat 10, 2005 11:42 pm

ok, first of all, i'm not goth. i may look like it because i wear all black, but i'm not. and secondly, you guys don't know any goth people, so basically you're just labeling. and that is screwed up. these people come to the park, and they share the same "passion" about the park as a lot of us do. they just wear all black so you guys just think that they just cause trouble or something like that. i'm sorry if i sounded mean, but i just wanted to get my point across because i went on the last bats day and i talked with a few of the goth people and they weren't mean, they didn't ignore me, they were just like us. and they love coming to the park. they just happen to like certain rides more than others. so please, don't label anyone until you get to know them.

no one is passing judgment on any of the people there, or yourself, so you can lighten up. Many people (including myself) think it'd be funny to see the stereotypical goth/punk riding such things like it's a small world or Peter Pan's Flight. It's not every day one can see that, and even better when it's a day when there's so many of them.

Plus, as this is america, we all have the right to post our opinions about whatever subject we would like.

I'm not sure where you got the idea that we're passing judgement on a group of people. But seeing hundreds of goth people at the happiest place of earth is a little out of the ordinary. If you go deeper and think about pop culture/dominant ideology- it's a bit ironic(I won't get into that).

But it's all in good fun. I'm sure the Bats who attended knew they were a sight to behold as well.

And no one said they cause trouble- in fact someone mentioned they were more behaved and respectful than most.

BTW: welcome to the board and have fun here! :D

I get the impression that if anybody's going to pass judgement on someone it's going to be Ickymouse. He seems quite opinionated. He also said that he liked the goth people. He didn't say anything about them being mean.

I used to go to industrial clubs and there were plenty of goth people. I, myself, didn't dress goth but I like industrial music. I found goth people to be very accecpting; another reason I would go. So, I DO know goth people.

But, I do find goth people to be "people of the night"ish. They portray that "sorrowful" image. That's why it's funny to see them go to such a bright and happy place like Disneyland. A bunch of people in black on IASW is funny!

although i wasn't in the picture in front of the castle, i was in one of the pictures in front of the mansion. it was pretty cool to see all of them in front of the castle. it's a sight to see. and also after we got our pics taken in front of the mansion, we went on the mansion and when we were in the stretch room people were just holding up cameras and taking random pics and there were flashes everywhere and wehn the room started stretching everyone started screaming the words it was one of my favorite times on the mansion. i loved it, i definitely agree with icky on his post on the first page i think it was. and it's a fun experience with them. i really enjoyed it. a lot of them respected cast members and stuff, others ignored them, which i can see because that happens with regular people too but, they were/are really cool people. :D

Bat's day hysteria...

Post by ickymouse » Sep Mon 12, 2005 8:50 pm

OK. First, I never said anything about Goths being mean, or troublesome - all I meant about the whole thing I wroote was that it was a nice contrast to the usual rabble that infest the park these days (See my last Rant about Disneyland). I was also referring to the fact that most people (not me) see people who look severe or different (i.e.; Goth or Punk), and automatically think they're a bunch of drug-addled freaks or psychos (well, some are - I've personally known a few). You're talking to a guy who wasn't let into a girl he was dating's Grad Night back in 1983 because he was wearing floppy Pirate boots (I was deeply into the whole "New-Romantic" thing back then - much like early Depech Mode, Duran Duran or Adam & the Ants) - I know all about people getting the wrong idea about you based on how you dress. I also think that Goths are somewhat silly - sorry - and the thought of them dressing to the nines in the sweltering heat just kills me. I also date a girl who is a self-proclaimed "Ex-Goth" who used to hang out with the gang from Marilyn Manson back in Florida, and she thinks it's more hilarious than I do.

In spite of all this, I like Goths - I even have a few for friends - and was merely commenting on how much better it was to share the park with them - scleral contacts, capes, Parasols, Trenchcoats, platform boots & eye-makeup & all - than the regular flotsam & Jetsam of humanity (hispanic gang member-types, obnoxious, Orange-County teens and fat, redneck hillbillies). In fact, I wish that was the ONLY type of people they let in there. I think I'd enjoy the park much more.

And for the record, yes - I AM opinionated - I have opinions, and I'm gonna use 'em. Since we're all gettin all forward with each other, what with the calling me out about being opinionated, let me quid pro quo y'all and say that you all really need the lighten the hell up. It's only a message board.

Have a Disney day!

your pal,

-Ickymouse ;)
