You know...I hadn't even realized that. Wow--life is crazy.NaCler wrote:That does sound a TAD ironic that you chose 'wewantsdaredhead' as your screen name and your wife has never been on it. Maybe it will be the straw that breaks the camel's back (so to speak) and she will fall madly in love with the parks as you have.... nah, probably not.But it won't hurt.
That's kind of wild that she hasn't ever been on POTC. I would think that would be an attraction everyone would hit at least once on a trip!wewantsdaredhead wrote:You know...I hadn't even realized that. Maybe you are right...maybe PotC is just what she needs!
Here's to hoping.
I hope you and your family are able to accomplish your goals on your next vacation!!!BuDz211 wrote:Most of the times I went to WDW was with my parents. I went many times as a child in the 80's and as a teen in the 90's. I haven't been since 1998 because I was on my own and now I have a wife and a 2 year old son. However, surfing all of the Disney websites made me realize how much I have not seen.
I never stayed on property or even seen any Disney resort, never been to Animal Kingdom, the water parks, Downtown Disney, and never had a meal at a table restaurant. I was always a Days Inn child and always ate at counter service restaurants (big fan of Pecos Bill and El Pirata y El Perico). I'm hoping that I can go with my family in August 2011, ride the new attractions, take advantage of free dining if it's available, and stay at Pop Century. I plan on knocking out a few firsts on this vacation. I can't wait!
I took my cousin during the first year of his college to the MK. He complained about a boat ride he remembered with a big drop on it and didn't want to ride it. I said "Splash Mountain, right?" No, he meant POTC. I gasped - and then said, "what big drop?" He meant that drop at the beginning LOL! (And yeh, I did laugh about it in front of him - in my defense, I was shocked by all of this). It turned out he had only rode POTC only once his life before and that was with a school group outing. I found out his parents NEVER took him WDW when he was growing up, and they lived only a few hours away in St. Augustine. I took a bit of convincing to get him to ride POTC for the second time in his life LOL! So, no, I'm not shocked by your story - I can relate to it!!!wewantsdaredhead wrote:Breaking news--this just in to the NC bureau...![]()
I was talking to my wife about this trip I am planning in Dec and she said she wants to do things she's never done.
So, I said, "Like what?" I'm thinking something odd, like Behind the Seeds, or something even I have never done was going to come out of her mouth.
Now...keep in mind she doesn't hate Disney, but she doesn't love it like me. She puts up with it because she loves me, I guess (let's face it---it's not for my $ or my looks) and she generally only tags along every other trip or so. And even then, if we hit the parks 5 days, she'll only go to two with us or something like that.
Well, she dropped on me that she has never been on PoTC...!!???!!! How is that even possible?
I doubted her and described the whole attraction queue to giftshop--"nope doesn't ring a bell."
Then I resorted to looking for a picture of her in the queue (I always take pictures of my boys in there)--no luck.
How is it possible that the mother of my children has never been on PoTC--I'm just amazed. I was flabbergasted when she told me that.
I still can't believe it, in case you can't tell!
Sooo...how did he react to the huge drop the second time around?!mindflipper wrote:I took my cousin during the first year of his college to the MK. I just now noticed this post. When are you going, exactly? Can you make our Dole Whip meet-up at the Poly on the 4th? We have a thread dedicated to that.wewantsdaredhead wrote:...I was talking to my wife about this trip I am planning in Dec and she said she wants to do things she's never done...
To be safe, he decided he would ride on the "inside" with me and another cousin flanking him on each side.Amy wrote:Sooo...how did he react to the huge drop the second time around?!mindflipper wrote:I took my cousin during the first year of his college to the MK. That is too funny! The drop in POTC is one of my Mom's most favorite parts...I'm guessing your cousin never has gone on Splash Mountain then?!mindflipper wrote:To be safe, he decided he would ride on the "inside" with me and another cousin flanking him on each side.Amy wrote:Sooo...how did he react to the huge drop the second time around?!mindflipper wrote:I took my cousin during the first year of his college to the MK.
