Beautiful kitty, Sleepy90! Poor thing was obviously abandoned by someone. Good for you, for being a rescue heroine! :D

Hooray for rescue kitties!!! I work at an animal shelter so my life is all about rescue kitties! Teaching feral kittens how to purr and love is so satisfying.
I will try to post pics of my own two "babies" later.

Amy...Hilarious!!!!! I have to give my cat a pill every morning and in the beginning it was just like that. Now about 9 months later she comes right to me at pill time, I scruff her and shove it in. She doesn't even mind anymore. She even reminds me if I forget to do it. She must know it makes her feel better.

Everyone's kitties' pictures are so cute! I visited with friends today and my friend Teresa's cat decided he did not like our other friend Mary. He hissed and hissed. It was so sad since he was so pretty and black and looked so soft. He seemed fine toward me but Teresa told me it wouldn't be the best to try to pet him. In the meantime he sniffed and then started licking Mary's purse. Weird that he liked her purse but not her!
The 2 Labs on the other hand, all but woofed "PET ME! PET ME!!) the whole time we were there :D

This is the new addition to my family. She had been living in the car park outside the place that I work for nearly eight months, everyone including myself thought she was a feral cat. Then she started to look very scabby and we were all quite worried about her. One morning on my way into work she came across to me crying, I've had cats before and know feral cats just don't do this. Over a period of days I befriended her and then I was able to stroke her but she would not let anyone else near her. I brought an old cat basket from home and managed to get a hissing spitting fiend into it, then we stopped at the vet on the way home to get flea-ed and wormed, I thought we would have trouble but she came out and went back into the basket like a little angel.

Once home she hid under the chairs for days and so got the name Hidey. This is her after about three months at home still very wary of anyone but myself and DH.

Probably not the cat you would have picked at adoption but she picked me.
My cat picked me as well, and after five years, that sweet-loving cat will transform into a wild, hissing, flailing fiend everytime I try to put her into a cat carrier. Some things just never change. Every cat I have fostered have done like your cat when introduced to the home - hid in some small cramped space; however, my cat I have was the exception. For a while, she lived on a doorstep in a box. She snuck in one time, when into the living room and stared at the Christmas Tree lighted up. When she was finished, she walked back to the door and returned to the box. I was surprised she didn't try to hide, and I knew then she was going to be different. When we decided to make her a house cat, we opened the door and invited her in. She came in and immediately jumped on the love seat and made herself at home. She never hid during the time she got adjusted to the home. The only time she hides is when we have repairmen come into the home (which is odd, considering this is the same cat the loves the sit out front of the home and taunting the leashed dogs as they get walked by our hourse).

Sleepy90 - I love your kitty pictures!!! The second one cracked me up!

jlpeaches - congratulations to you for working at an animal shelter! I couldn't do it...I would get so attached to the animals that I wouldn't bear to see them go...even though it would be to a good family. If I could, I would rescue every animal I could and house them on a large farm so there would be plenty of room. Yep, I'd be one of those crazy ladies with all the pets!

I suppose it is a good thing that right now my older cat would not tolerate a new friend in the house. But someday I will be the crazy cat lady too!! And I will have only all black kitties. Because no one seems to want to adopt the all black ones. And since they will all look similar I will tell my husband that we really only have two or three and that he only thinks we have dozens.

I think the black kitties are cute!

I don't think I could get away with it... all our cats always sleep on the bed with us. DW gets frustrated sometimes....

Even if I had more than one cat there would only be one sleeping on the bed with me (she would kill the other cat before it could get on the bed). :D

My older cat is like that too. Although, now that she is 20 years old she will occasionally allow the other cat to sleep in the bed. I think she just doesn't have the energy anymore to reinforce her position as supreme ruler of the bed.

Wow! 20 years old??? Has she turned into one of those grumpy old ladies? (Louise is almost 9 years old and she's already a grumpy lady (always has been)...I can't imagine what she'll be like as she ages more )
